Transgender people are going to be voters: Kabita Khanam

Election Commissioner Kabita Khanam said, transgender people will be enlisted as voters. Besides, attention will be given about the Hindu women who do not want to enlist their names as voters before their marriage.

She said these while delivering speech as the chief guest in voter list update programs at the conference room of Sylhet Deputy Commissioner on Tuesday.

Kabita Khanam said, transgender people will be enlisted as voters.

She also ordered the administration to take necessary steps so that a perfect voter list can be made.

She said, there are some women in the Hindu community who do not want to be enlisted as voters before their marriage. These matters should be checked.

Kabita Khanam also said, those who are 18 years old will be enlisted. We have to pay attention so that no woman is left out. As well as inclusion of new names the names of dead voters need to be omitted from the list. In this case death certificates should be verified.

In the program high ranked officers from the administration including Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Mejbah Uddin Chowdhury delivered speeches. Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet Kazi Emdadul Islam presided over the program.
