Marks of Abrar’s blood still on zebra crossing

It was about 7:30 am on Tuesday. Abrar Ahmed Chowdhury, a student of Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) was crossing the road through zebra crossing of Pragati Sarani adjacent to the Jamuna Future Park in the capital. But the bus of Supravat Paribahan did not consider the zebra crossing. Following competition with another bus it snatched away the life of Abrar. The marks of Abrar’s blood are still remaining on the zebra crossing.

Following the incident students of several universities including BUP have begun their demonstration.

According to the eyewitnesses and Abrar’s friends, the reckless bus pushed Abrar while doing competition with another bus. He was trapped between two buses and later fell under the bus of Suprovat Paribahan. Abiding by the rules Abrar was crossing the road through zebra crossing to catch his university bus.

After the incident one passerby said, the boy was crossing the road following the rules. But while making competition the bus of Suprovat Paribahan hit Abrar first then he was crushed under the bus.

Following the incident BUP students started to protest taking their position at six different places from Kuril to Natun Bazar. Besides, student of North South University, Independent University and local people also took position on roads. They were staging demonstration surrounding the zebra crossing.
