1050-meter of Padma Bridge visible

With the installation of the seventh span, 1,050-meter of the much awaited Padma Bridge is now visible.

The seventh span of the much-hyped mega project was laid on the pillars of 36 and 39 at Jajira point of Shariatpur on Wednesday morning.

Out of 1,050 meters, 900-meter of the bridge is visible at the Jajira end and the rest 150-meter at the Mawa end of the river.

A vessel carrying the floating crane 'Tian-E', the most powerful crane of the world, anchored at Jazira point from the specialised workshop jetty at Kumarbhogh at 8:30am on Tuesday.

The crane put the seventh span weighs 3,200 tonnes on the pillars around 10am On Wednesday.

Padma Bridge Executive Engineer Dewan Md Abdul Kader, officials and engineers were present during the installation of the span.

After the completion of the installation of seventh span, a huge task is going on in full swing to keep the continuation of the span installation up to pillar No 33.

The first span of the bridge was placed on pillars 37 and 38 on September 30, 2017, the second span was laid on pillars 38 and 39 on January 28, 2018, the third span on pillars 39 and 40 on March 11 and the fourth was placed on May 13 the same year.

The fifth span was set up on June 29, 2018 while the seventh on October 13.
