DNCC by-election for mayoral post February 28

The by-election for the mayoral post of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will be held on February 28. Besides the general election in 36 wards which were merged with Dhaka north and south city corporations newly will be held on the same day.

The decision was taken at the 43rd Election Commission (EC) meeting on Tuesday. EC source said this.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda, EC Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed and other Commissioners were present in the meeting.

It is known that for the election the last date of nomination paper submission is on January 30. Scrutiny on February 2 and last date of nomination paper withdrawal on February 9.

Besides the by-election in Kishoreganj-1 constituency due to the death of Syed Ashraful Islam will be held on February 28. In this seat the last date of nomination paper submission is on January 31. Scrutiny on February 3 and last date of nomination paper withdrawal is on February 10.

The schedule for election in the reserved seats will be declared on February 3 which is scheduled to be held in the first week of March. Besides upazila elections will be held in five phases. In the first phase the upazila election will start on March 8 or 9. Then the elections will be held in the second phase on March 18, third phase on March 24 and fourth phase on March 31. The fifth phase election will be held after the holy month of Ramadan.
