4172 cases filed for violating traffic rules in capital

The Traffic Department of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has filed 4 thousand 172 cases and fined 20 lakh 83 thousand 950 taka by conducting drive against traffic rules violators in different parts of the capital. During the drive 15 vehicles were dumped and 456 vehicles were put on the wrecker.

The cases were filed and fines were made during the day long drive on Friday.

According to DMP Traffic Department, among the mentionable cases 848 cases were filed for driving in the wrong side, 82 for using hydraulic horns, 2 for using hooter and beacon light, 1 for using sticker and 4 cases were filed for fixing black glasses in microbuses.

It was also known 1726 cases were filed against motorcycles for violating traffic rules and 74 motorcycles were seized. Besides, 5 cases were filed against the drivers for speaking over mobile phones while driving.

The drive conducted by DMP Traffic Department started on January 16 and will continue till January 31 as part of their program.
