Sinopharm vaccines arrive in the country

More 54 lakh 1,300 doses of vaccines which were bought from china have arrived in the capital. The vaccines reached at around 1:45 am on Saturday.

Health Directorate Line Director Dr. Shamsul Haque received the vaccines at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

Earlier on Friday night, in a message on facebook Deputy Chief of Mission of the Chinese Embassy informed that 54 lakh doses of the vaccines under the bilateral agreement would be available in the country.

Earlier, China handed over 11 lakh doses of Corona vaccines in two phases as gift. In first phase on May 12 China handed over the 5 lakh doses of Sinopharm vaccines. In the second phase 6 lakh doses of vaccines were handed over.

Besides, 20 lakh doses of Corona vaccines which were purchased commercially arrived in Dhaka on July 3. In the second phase 20 lakh doses were available on July 17. More 30 lakh doses of Corona vaccines arrived in the capital on July 30.

Under COVAX 17 lakh doses of vaccines arrived in the country from China on August 10. In the second phase 17 lakh 70 thousand doses of vaccines reached in the country on August 11. In total 1 crore 81 lakh 61 thousand 801 doses of Corona vaccines produced by Sinopharm arrived in the country from China.
