Coronavirus: Ongoing restrictions extended for another month

The government has extended the tenure of ongoing restrictions due to coronavirus situation in the country. To control transmission of the deadly virus the restrictions will continue till July 15. In this regard a notification has been issued by the cabinet division on Wednesday (today).

According to the earlier announcement the tenure of ongoing restrictions was scheduled to end midnight tonight.

According to the notification, there are some new conditions to follow. Of those one is that government and private offices will remain open after abiding by the health guidelines. On the other hand, in the risky districts local Deputy Commissioner will take proper steps including the decision of lockdown after consulting the corona situation with the people’s representatives and Covid Technical Committee.

To take the second wave of corona situation under control in the country the government in this year at first imposed restrictions for people’s movement from April 5 including strict guidelines for public transport operation. Later it was extended for two more days. After that considering the situation ‘strict restrictions’ or ‘all out lockdown’ were announced from April 14 to 21. Later the restrictions were extended in seven phases.
