The law ministry has given its opinion saying ‘no’ to the proposal for sending BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia abroad for taking treatment.
The opinion was given as there is no provision in the law for sending a convicted person beyond country’s border.
The recommendation of the ministry said that there is no scope for any person to go abroad or cross the border of the country as he or she is convicted. As Begum Khaleda Zia is convicted then she has to be pardoned in connection with the punishment she was awarded. As the court awarded her the punishment, so only the state authority can pardon the punishment. Now state only can decide about the matter.
