Empty roads on third day of lockdown in Dhaka

Complete lockdown has begun on Wednesday to prevent coronavirus transmission in this pandemic situation. It will continue till midnight of April 21. In this period nobody can come out without necessary purpose. All the government and non-government offices will remain closed. But garments and industrial factories are open.

Today is the third day of the ongoing lockdown. On the other hand it is a weekly holiday. The city of traffic jam is quite empty at the moment. Less people have come out from their homes and no pressure of transport on the roads. People are out of their homes with their private automobiles. Many are returning to their homes after buying the necessary commodities.

This type of scene were seen elsewhere at Linkroad, Gudaraghat, Gulshan-1 and 2, Motijheel, Karwan Bazar, Bijoy Sarani, Mohammadpur, Mirpur and other parts of the city. Comparatively less number of rickshaws was plying on the roads.

No busy scene was seen at the check posts. Police members were seen checking the identity cards and movement cards of the people.

A rickshaw puller at Mohammadpur area said, I had comparatively better income during the last lockdown. At that period we can drive rickshaw through the narrow roads but today all are shut. It’s hardly to find any man. I will not be able to make more money today.

Another rickshaw puller said that he also could not make much income on the day. He also said that he is confused that how he would manage his family today.

A Gulshan resident private bank officer said that he has made stock of materials in his home so that he need not to go outside in this period.
