Health Minister Zahid Maleque expressed concern saying that corona contraction rate is increasing in the country. He said, after being vaccinated people are not abiding by the health guidelines which is dangerous. The daily contraction rate decreased to 2 per cent but it has now increased and going around 6 per cent.

He said this to the newsmen after a program at the National Ophthalmology Institute in the capital on Thursday.

The minister said, after taking the coronavirus vaccine we have turned desperate. We are using masks at a less number. We are not maintaining the social distances. We are holding increased number of social programs and in this way the corona contraction has increased. It will take time to make free Bangladesh of coronavirus.

Zahid Maleque said, already steps have been taken to prevent corona contraction. Yesterday a meeting was held with the government and private officials from different stages across the country. Letters were issued at the district level for taking proper action by the district committees. Directions have been given to suspend the programs that are not necessary.

He said, directions were given to make the private and government hospitals prepared for providing treatment as required.

The Health Minister informed that Bangladesh is on the preferential list to get the Covax vaccines. He said, one crore 9 lakh doses of vaccines might come to Bangladesh from this international platform by the month of June. By this time distribution of Covax vaccines have been started. We were informed that we would get some vaccines before June.
