Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, we don’t want to lay our hands to others for our food. We will produce our own food. We will live in this world keeping our heads high.

She said this while delivering her speech at a program on the occasion of National Safe Food Day-2021 on Thursday. The premier joined the program through video conference as the chief guest from her official residence Ganabhaban organized by Bangladesh Safe Food Authority at Hotel Intercontinental in the capital.

Food Minister Shadhan Chandra Majumder presided over the program. Agriculture Minister Abdur Razzak and Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim were present at the program as the special guests.

The Prime Minister emphasized on producing our own food by ourselves and said, cultivate whatever food is needed for the family if you have a piece of land. Then food deficit will decrease. We have to increase food production with our all out efforts.

Sheikh Hasina said, people’s ability has increased. Now people buy some protein items along with rice. We have to put importance on balanced diet. Publicity should be increased. People should be informed about what kind of food is needed for the children, for the aged people or a pregnant mother.

Directing concerned authorities to curb the sellers of adulterated food with strong hands the premier said, they make adulterated food to get extra benefit. They mix chemicals and serve people with rotten food. They should be made conscious for not doing that. If they do not follow the direction then strict action should be taken.
