Govt approves antibody test for Covid-19: Health Minister

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque said, permission has been given for coronavirus antibody test with help of kits. It was a demand of time. We have approved antibody test process from now.

He delivered the information at a press briefing at the secretariat on Sunday.

Zahid Maleque said, we have received two million doses of vaccine. Also hope that five million more doses will reach tomorrow. All preparations have been taken.

When asked about the start date of antibody test and the number of kits, he said, I cannot give the statistics of available antibody test kits in our local market. Concerned will import according to their need. Private organizations will be permitted to import this kit. Different hospitals will get this. No obstruction has been created in this regard.

The minister said, the preparation of the national committee to vaccinate people has been completed so far. The work to develop an app is also at the final stage. We have plans regarding in which upazilas of particular district we would go. We have the list of frontline workers to whom the vaccine will be given first.

He said, the Prime Minister has given her consent to inaugurate the vaccination process on January 27. It will start from Kurmitola Hospital. There some people will be vaccinated. Nurses are being given preference. We will give them vaccine at first. Later by phases all will get it.

Zahid Maleque said, at the district and upazila level there will be arrangement for the interested people to sit separately. They will wait there for while and will be under observation. If there is any side affect then he or she will be given immediate treatment. We will follow the WHO guidelines for the vaccination activities.
