All Kuwait bound flights of Biman Bangladesh Airlines have been cancelled from tomorrow (August 4). The decision has been taken following suspension order from Kuwait airport authority. The information came through Biman’s website.

The website reads, the cancellation order will be effective until further notice starting from August 4. All the Kuwait bound passengers are requested to contact Biman helpline or call center (+8801777715613-16).

On July 26 in a press release Biman said that they will operate flight on Dhaka-Kuwait-Dhaka route on every Tuesday in the month of August. But Kuwait authority has cancelled commercial flights in the country to prevent coronavirus spread. In this ban list there were seven countries at first but it was extended to 31 countries.

The Kuwait authority has said that the decision was taken as those countries are in grave risk of coronavirus.

In Kuwait 67 thousand people were infected and 400 people died from the virus infection.

Mentionable, Kuwait is one of the prominent labor markets for some countries of Asia including Bangladesh. The 30 per cent people of the total population in this oil rich country are local and 70 per cent are expatriates.
