Former health minister Mohammad Nasim passes away

Former health minister and Bangladesh Awami League presidium member Mohammad Nasim passed away.

He breathed his last at around 11 am while undergoing treatment at Bangladesh Specialized Hospital at Shyamoli in the capital. Mohammad Nasim’s son Tanvir Shakil Joy confirmed the information.

Earlier at 11 pm on Friday, chief of the medical board formed for treatment of Mohammad Nasim and renowned neurosurgeon of the country and BSMMU Vice Chancellor Professor Kanak Kanti Barua said that his physical condition was critical like the previous. He was in deep coma. He could breathe with support of ventilator. Suddenly there were some heart problems. Then medical board members gave advice through video conference. After that his heart began to work.

Mohammad Nasim was admitted at the Bangladesh Specialized Hospital in the capital on June 1 with symptoms of covid-19. He was tested corona positive on that night. But he suffered a stroke on June 5 early morning. Emergency operation was performed on that day. On the next day a medical board was formed. After the operation the physicians kept him under 72 hours observation. On June 9 Mohammad Nasim was tested corona negative.
