Professor Jamilur Reza Choudhury passes away
One of the most reputed engineers of the country and National Professor Jamilur Reza CHoudhury passed away. Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilaihi Rajiun.
His nephew and Dean of Dhaka University business faculty Professor Shibly Rubayetul Islam told the media that his uncle suffered a massive heart attack at around 2 am on Monday. Later he was rushed to the hospital but the physicians declared him dead.
Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury was born in Sylhet on November 15, 1942. He was educated in St. Gregory’s School and Dhaka College. Then he got admitted in Ahsanullah Engineering College (now BUET) to learn engineering. He passed BSc engineering in first division in 1963. Then he joined civil engineering department as a Lecturer. He got his higher education in Southampton University. He performed his duty as the Professor of BUET till 2001.
Professor Jamilur Reza Choudhury played his role as the Advisor of caretaker government in 1996. He was the first Vice Chancellor of BRAC University and was also acting as the Vice Chancellor of University of Asia Pacific till he breathed last.
For the recognition of his achievement he also received the Ekushey Padak. He also performed his duty as the Consultant of Padma Bridge project. He was the father of two children. In 2018 Bangladesh government appointed him as the National Professor.
