Myanmar has declined firing blank shots along with the border. They declined the matter in a flag meeting between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Guard Police (BGP) over the current border situation.

The country has said that the deployment of additional force along with border is for internal security and also assured to take back them. It also assured to take back Rohingyas gathered in the no man’s land.

The flag meeting started at 3:15 pm on Friday at the zero point area of Ghumdhum border in Bandarban. The meeting took place for more than one and half an hour.

A seven member representative team led by controller of Tombru and Ghumdhum area 34 Battalion BGB Commander Lieutenant Colonel Manjurul Ahsan Khan took part in the meeting on behalf of Bangladesh.

Earlier in the morning Lt. Colonel Manjurul said to the newsmen, as Myanmar strengthened their power along with the border, we protested the incident and urged them to hold flag meeting. They were agreed to participate in the meeting at 3 pm on the bordering Gumdhum point. BGB is on high alert on the border. Surveillance was also increased.

On Thursday Bangladesh foreign ministry summoned Myanmar Ambassador to Dhaka Lwin Oo protesting the additional forces deployment within one hundred and fifty yards of Tombru border at Naikkhongchhari upazila of Bandarban district.

The Myanmar Ambassador was told that this kind of action would create confusion and spread tension. The Bangladesh foreign ministry official asked Myanmar authority to withdraw the military deployment. The Ambassador was given a diplomatic letter at that time.

On Thursday after attending the BGB’s 91st batch drill in Chittagong, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, BGB is on alert in the area. It is impossible that outsider would come to our country and create anarchy.

More than 6 lakh Rohingyas fled to Ukhia and Teknaf of Cox's Bazar district from Rakhine state after 25 August, 2017. Before that more than 4 lakh Rohingyas came to Bangladesh. Of the nearly total 11 lakh Rohingyas, 1 million 76 thousand Rohingyas have already been biometrically registered.
