Prime Minister gets Tagore Peace Award in Delhi

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been awarded the prestigious Tagore Peace Award for her outstanding role in combating corruption and poverty alleviation. The award was handed over to the Prime Minister at a program in New Delhi.

The awarded was accorded to the premier on behalf of The Asiatic Society.

Tagore Peace Award is an award accorded in remembrance of one hundred and fifty years of birth anniversary of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore and for cultural harmony. To get the nomination for this award contribution of last ten years is considered.

The Indian government introduced the award in 2012. Persons, organizations and associations are being given the peace award.

Indian spiritual leader Ravi Shankar was awarded the prize first. Then Indian Jubin Mehta got the award in 2013. And the award for 2018 has gone to Bangladesh Prime Minister.
