All panels except Chhatra League’s boycott DUCSU polls

All panels of the student organizations except that of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) who took part in the DUCSU elections have boycotted the election.

The declaration of rejecting the election came in on behalf of different organizations and panels after holding press conference at Madhu’s Canteen on Monday.

After holding press conference at Madhu’s Canteen at 1 pm on Monday four alliances rejected the Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) election. As well as they also called for class boycott in the university tomorrow. Later Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) at a press conference announced their decision of election boycott.

JCD Vice President candidate Mostafizur Rahman said, no fair environment is prevailing for election. The administration from the beginning has joined the process of vote forgery. We are boycotting the election.

Earlier at a press conference Left Alliance Vice President candidate Liton Nandi upheld different irregularities during voting at different halls. He also condemned about the incident of recovering forged ballot papers from Kuwait-Maitree hall.

Liton Nandi said, we are boycotting the election of farce and forgery with hatred. As well as we are demanding fresh election. In that election different new steps like formation of new election conducting committee, setting up voting centers in the academic buildings and vote casting in transparent boxes have to take.

Later the students who boycotted the election brought out a demonstration in the campus. JCD leaders and activists also brought out a demonstration. At one stage they took position in front of Vice Chancellor’s residence.
