Info ministry orders to stop advertisement in foreign tv channels

The information ministry has ordered to stop broadcasting advertisement of local commodities in the foreign television channels which are being broadcasted through downlink in the country.

In a letter issued on Tuesday said, in the sub section 13 of section 19 of the cable television network governance law 2006 the broadcasting of advertisement through foreign television channels is banned. But it is known that Bangladeshi advertisements are being broadcasted through downlink in foreign television channels, which are against the law.

But in the law conditions are given to abide by. According to that law if local advertisements are broadcasted in the foreign channels then according to the section 11 of the law the distribution license will be cancelled or suspended and according to section 28 up to two years imprisonment will be awarded.
