According to UN report titled “World Economic Situation and Prospects”, Bangladesh will become the 3rd fastest growing economy in the world in 2019 in terms of increasing Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

The report says, Sudan and India, expecting to expand at 8.1% and 7.6%, takes 1st and 2nd place respectively. Bangladesh is expected to grow 7.4% this year with the influence of strong fixed investment, growing private consumption and adaptive monetary policy. Though a rise is seen in inflation figures in 2018 due to depreciation of domestic currency and higher oil prices, inflation is expected to be stable this year.

Focusing on South Asian economy, the flagship UN report said the regional GDP is expected to expand by 5.4% in 2019 and 5.9% in 2020, after an estimated expansion of 5.6% in 2018.
