Reduced poverty rate to 21 percent: Prime Minister

Upholding development activities of Awami League government Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, the government is working to reach advantages of independence to the door steps of people. We have reduced poverty rate to 21 percent.

She said these while delivering speech as the chief guest in the closing ceremony of law and administrative courses of Bangladesh Civil Service Administrative Academy at Shahbag in the capital on Thursday.

The Prime Minister said, we have begun the activities of government with 3200 Mega Watts power production in 2009. At present we have attained the capability of producing 20 thousand Mega Watts power. 93 percent people of the country are getting electricity. The aim we are working on to enlighten every house in the country.

Informing that the government has worked on huge infrastructural development including construction of roads the Prime Minister said, we are working for development of quality of life standard of people. The development works that we have done should have continuation.

Upholding government’s activities by targeting the year 2021, 2041, 2071 and 2100 Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, I am 72 years old at the moment. I may not survive till 2041. But the leadership is needed to advance the country, they (participants of the training course) are prepared here.
