Jukta Front, the political alliance led by former president AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury has urged Election Commission (EC) to declare election schedule on November 8.

A delegation led by Jukta Front leader and Bikalpa Dhara Secretary General Major Abdul Mannan (retd) went to the EC on Tuesday and submitted the letter.

The letter motioned that it will not be a right decision to defer the election schedule without any reason. It said, doubt, confusion and frustration will be created among people if schedule is delayed without any reason and that will not be acceptable in any way.

After getting out of the EC Abdul Mannan told the newsmen that discussion was held in a cordial and friendly atmosphere.

He said, we have said if EVM is used then it should be used in all the centers. There is no need to make the election questionable by using EVM in some centers.

About army deployment he said, we have asked to deploy army as mobile team or like police by not deploying as striking force. CEC said, it needs 40 thousand army members if one member is deployed in a center and it needs 2 lakh members if deployed 4 members in a center. That is not possible. He upheld some logics. But army deployment is necessary to keep confidence of people.
