Will present jam free roads in two years: DSCC Mayor

Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon has announced that jam free safe roads will be presented to the capital within next two years.

He announced this while presiding over the first meeting of the committee to bring back discipline in public transport system at the mayor’s seminar room in Nagar Bhaban in the capital on Thursday.

Sayeed Khokon said, the prime task of the committee will be to ensure security of lives of people through bring back discipline on roads. With this purpose the steps will be taken to operate buses under some specific companies by rationalizing the routes.

He said, the progress that late mayor Annisul Huq had done, from that point the committee will move forward through attachment or detachment if needed in this regard. The committee will be able to present safe roads within next two years.

The Mayor said, the committee will also work for how environment friendly buses can be operated to prevent air pollution as well as presenting jam free roads. He also urged the city dwellers to keep confidence on them.

Urging opinions from different sections of people including students to bring back discipline on roads, the Mayor said, if experts, representatives from civil society, citizens and students give any suggestions then those will be implemented after detail discussions.

He also said, to bring back discipline in transport sector and drive out insecurity on roads, there are considerations to use technology in the capital like developed cities in the world.
