No syndicate, from now all the valid recruiting agencies will be able to work for exporting manpower in Malaysia. The decision was taken after government level meeting between Bangladesh and Malaysia in Putrajaya on Tuesday.

Bangladeshi workers will be sent to Malaysia under the ongoing G to G system through all valid agencies instead of 10 specific agencies. The decision came in after holding two stages meeting between joint working groups of the two countries. Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Nurul Islam BSc led the Bangladesh delegation team. Malaysian Human Resource Minister Kula Segaran led the Malaysian team. The meeting took place in Malaysia’s administrative capital Putrajaya on Tuesday.

The joint working group meeting was held to drive out the deadlock of Bangladeshi labor market in Malaysia. Personal Secretary (Joint Secretary) of Expatriates’ Welfare Minister Md. Abul Hasanat Humayun Kabir said that a good number of decisions were taken in the meeting.

It is mentionable, about two lakh workers have gone to the country in last one and half years through the syndicate of 10 agencies. Though the workforce went under G to G system but its online system SPPA was shut down from September 1.

According to Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamed’s earlier announcement the decision was taken to make the Malaysian labor market open for valid Bangladeshi recruiting agencies.

The Expatriates’ Welfare Minister also informed that discussion was held for permitting visas for more than ten years and about the illegal workers there.

Bangladesh High Commissioner in Malaysia Md. Shahidul Islam, Manpower Employment and Training Bureau Director General Md. Selim Reza and other senior government officials were present in the meeting.
