US wants to open new chapter in relations: Foreign Minister

Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud has said the United States has expressed willingness to work with Bangladesh to a new chapter in relations with Bangladesh for its development and advancement.

The visiting US National Security Council (NSC) delegation led by Eileen Laubacher, Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for South Asia, met the foreign minister in Dhaka on Sunday afternoon (Feb 25).

"We have talked about our shared priorities and ways for us to cooperate together in the future," Eileen Laubacher told reporters after the meeting.

The minister said that the United States is the country's biggest development partner. The United States is a major export destination. They expressed willingness to work with us to create a new era of relations. They are also positive about military cooperation, arms deals. However, there was not much discussion about it.
