BNP leaders not permitted to meet Khaleda Zia

BNP senior leaders including its Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir returned from jail gate after they were not permitted to meet the party Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

BNP Secretary Genral Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, standing committee members Mirza Abbas, Khondoker Mosharraf Hossain, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, former chief whip Joynul Abdin Faruk and other leaders came in front of old central jail at around 12 pm on Saturday. Later they left the place after not getting permission to meet Khaleda Zia.

Earlier BNP Chairperson’s press wing officer Shairul Kabir Khan said, BNP leaders will go to old central jail to meet Khaleda Zia after offering respect at the grave of Ziaur Rahman.

He also said, every year BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia exchanges Eid greetings people from all walks of life and diplomats. But this year the programs of BNP are cancelled as Khaleda Zia is in jail.

Begum Khaleda Zia was awarded five years imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case on February 8. Dhaka special judge court-5 delivered the verdict. After the verdict Khaleda Zia was taken to old central jail at Nazimuddin road.
