Quader: National polls to be held in first week of January

Obaidul Quader, Minister of Road Transport and Bridges of Bangladesh and General Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League said the next national elections will be held in the first week of January.

He said this at an event on 'National Safe Road Day' at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium on Sunday, October 22.

He also said, the schedule for the 12th national election will be announced in the middle of November.

In that time he mentioned to BNP leaders, "You (BNP) are dreaming to block the road, burn the bus and people and destroy the constitution as you wish; we will not let that happen. The election will be held according to the current constitution. The election train is leaving in November, if you miss it, you will fall behind."

Awami League general secretary said that the country should be run according to the constitution. Election system will be according to the constitution. BNP's choice of blockade will not be fulfilled.
