Dhaka's air world's most polluted today

The air quality of densely populated Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka continued to be in the 'unhealthy' zone with an AQI index of 183 at 9:45 am this morning.

Air quality index between 151 and 200 is considered as 'unhealthy' while 201-300 is 'very unhealthy', and 301-400 is considered 'hazardous', posing severe health risks to residents.

According to UNB, Indonesia's Jakarta and India's Mumbai and Kolkata are second, third and fourth on the list with AQI scores of 169, 166 and 165 respectively.

Air pollution kills an estimated seven million people worldwide every year, mainly due to increased mortality from stroke, heart disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, lung cancer, and acute respiratory infections.
