Dengue: 10 patients die, 2,660 hospitalised in 24 hrs

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said, In the last 24 hours, Ten patients died and 2,660 were admitted to different hospitals in the country.

"The death toll from dengue infection crossed the 1000-mark as the authorities recorded 1,096 dengue deaths between January 1 and October 9 this year."

"At the same time, 649 dengue patients were hospitalised in Dhaka city while 2,011 were admitted to different hospitals outside the capital city."

"This year, 1,096 deaths, the highest in a year since dengue was detected in 2000, were reported from dengue disease while 281 died last year," the statement said.

With the new cases, the total number of patients rose to 2,26,224, the statement said, adding: "This year, some 2,16,308 patients were released from different hospitals out of the total patients."
