Dengue: 7 patients die, 2,742 hospitalised in 24 hours

Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said, seven patients died and 2,742 were admitted to different hospitals in the country during the last 24 hours.

DGHS said, "During the period, 612 dengue patients were hospitalised in Dhaka city while 2,130 were admitted to different hospitals outside the capital city."

The statement said that, "This year, 1,086 deaths, the highest in a year since dengue was detected in 2000, were reported from dengue disease while 281 died last year."

With the new cases, the total number of patients rose to 2,23,564, the statement said, adding: "This year, some 2,13,678 patients were released from different hospitals out of the total patients."

"A total of 9,171 dengue patients are undergoing treatment at different hospitals. Of them, 2,912 are in Dhaka while 6,259 are outside of the capital city," it added.
