'US should focus on themselves'
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, “The United States should be more focused on themselves. My question to themselves: What is the actual situation of the United States? They should protect the children's lives. They are not taking enough care of their own people. We asked them for proof of the allegations they made to us, but they did not answer."
In an exclusive interview with British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Prime Minister made these statements during her recent visit to the UK.
The interview which lasted for about half an hour, Sheikh Hasina talked about some issues including Bangladesh's human rights situation, extrajudicial killings, US sanctions, democracy and Rohingya issues.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina told, "The United States sanctioned on the Bangladesh special security forces Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) only because they do not want to see us in power."
Prime Minister claimed, "Due to the continuation of democracy for the last 14 years, it is possible to do the extraordinary development in the country. Because of a true democratic system, we are able to make progress day by day."
Sheikh Hasina said, "Following the United States advice, RAB established in 2004. All the training facilities and equipment were provided by the US. RAB is following the pathway as they learned from the United States."
