Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said, "Due to the right initiative of the government, country's garment industry is moving forward despite the global crisis.
She said this while joining the 'National Textiles Day' celebration virtually from Ganobhaban on Tuesday, February 14.

Gold prices hitting record high, breaks all records
Bangladesh Jeweller's Association (Bajus) has fixed the new price of gold.
The price of 22-carat gold has been increased by Tk 1,750 to Tk 1,15,824 per bhori, according to a notification issued by Bangladesh Jeweller's Association (BAJUS) on Saturday.
Besides, the price of 21 carat gold has been fixed at Tk 1,10,575, 18 carat gold at Tk 94,770. Although the price of gold has increased, the price of silver has been kept unchanged.
According to the notification, the price of gold has increased in the local market. Considering the overall situation, BAJUS has fixed the new price of gold. The new prices will be effective from Sunday (April 7).
Eid shopping reaches its peak

Brazil to help Bangladesh for BRICS membership
Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira has assured of extending all-out support to Bangladesh for its keen interest in becoming a BRICS member.
Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira held a bilateral meeting with Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud at the state guest house Jamuna on Sunday (April 7) afternoon. Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud briefed reporters after the meeting.
He said Brazil will cooperate with Bangladesh for inclusion in BRICS. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina likely to visit Brazil in July.
The foreign minister said this is the first visit by a Brazilian foreign minister to Bangladesh. We had a very successful bilateral discussion.
Gold prices hike again within 24 hours
Bangladesh Jeweller's Association (BAJUS) has increased the price of gold.
The price of 22-carat gold has been increased by Tk 1,750 per bhori (11.664 grams) to Tk 1,17,573, which is the highest in the country's economy, said a press release issued by Bajus on Monday (April 8).
Besides, the price of 21 carat gold has been fixed at Tk 1,12,208, 18 carat gold at Tk 96,228.
According to the notification, the price of gold has increased in the local market. Considering the overall situation, BAJUS has fixed the new price of gold. The new prices will be effective from Tuesday (April 9).
For the first time the country witnessed the price of gold to rise above Tk 1 lakh per bhori on July 20, 2023.
More than 2m SIM card holders left the capital in 2 days
More than 20 lakh mobile phone SIM holders have left the capital in the last two days. This information has been found in the sources of mobile phone operators.
Each SIM card has a code known as an IMSI (International Mobile Subscriber Identity) which uniquely identifies the SIM card itself. SIM holders are meant to be different people (unique user). They may be accompanied by elderly men, women and children, who do not use cell phones. As a result, it is difficult to get an estimate of how many people have actually left Dhaka.
According to some sources, more than 20 lakh mobile SIM holders left Dhaka on April 6 and 7. At this time, more than 9.5 lakh SIM holders have entered Dhaka from different districts.
Moon not sighted, Eid on Thursday

16 lives lost in road crash across country
At least 16 people were killed in road accidents in eight districts of the country. Many others were injured in these incidents.

Mymensingh: Three accidents took place in Mymensingh Sadar, Trishal and Tarakanda upazilas of the district from Tuesday morning to afternoon. Eight people, including three of a family, were killed in the incidents.
Tangail: A man was killed in a collision between a pick-up van and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Madhupur in Tangail on Tuesday afternoon. Another person was also injured in that incident.
Dinajpur: A motorcyclist named Babul Hossain (40) was killed in a collision between two motorcycles on Dinajpur-Gobindaganj highway on Tuesday afternoon.
Kurigram: A man was killed in a collision between a trolley and a motorcycle on Kurigram-Bhurungamari highway on Tuesday noon
Besides, two people were killed in Sitakunda and three in Munshiganj, Bogura and Gaibandha. At least six people were injured in the incident.
