SSC exams deferred again
Chairman of Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar has informed that arrangement of SSC and equivalent examinations is not possible in the month of July as flood situation has not improved in the country. If the situation improves then SSC exams will be held in the month of August. Convener of the inter-education board coordination committee and Dhaka education board Chairman Professor Tapan Kumar Sarkar also informed the news media that the decision was taken after holding the meeting of coordination committee. He said, it is not possible to arrange SSC exams in July. Because, more than half of the examination centers in Sylhet are being used as shelter centers for the flood affected people. It will take time to renovate the centers for taking examinations. So, exams cannot be taken in July. Exams will start in August. When asked about the probable schedule of exams Tapan Kumar said, detail discussion was held in the meeting about the overall flood situation of the country. We will sit again after Eid to discuss about the matter. After that we will be able to inform about the date. Whether HSC exams will be deferred or not, when asked about Professor Tapan said, as HSC exams are related to SSC, so that may also be deferred. Mentionable, SSC and equivalent exams were scheduled to begin from June 19. But due to the deteriorated flood situation in Sylhet and other parts of the country the declaration of suspending the exams came in June 17. AH
