100 days of new government
Awami League, which has come to power for the fourth consecutive term, completed the first 100 days of this government on Saturday (20 April). Though there were no announced program from the government, there were some initiatives. One of them is the control of price of daily goods. Besides, transparency in the financial sector, building a people-friendly administration, establishing the rule of law and protecting civil rights.
Various steps to control the price of daily goods
In the 100 days of the present government, the most challenging step was to control the price of daily goods during Ramadan. The month of Ramadan has passed with relief due to various steps taken by the government. The price of vegetables, onion, fruits and seasonal fruits were affordable. The price of watermelon was very reasonable. But the price of rice, oil, sugar, wheat, and flour remained unchanged. Along with cumin seeds, the price of local onion, garlic, dry chili, turmeric, and some spices were low too.
As the price of milk, egg, meat was reasonable, about 6 lakh people easily bought these.
In 35 district including Dhaka, the ministry of fish and animal resource sold milk, egg, and meat at a very reasonable price. Till 27 Ramadan almost 5,91,971 people bought these goods at a very cheap price.
Eid gift for poor people
On the occasion of Eid-ul-fitr, sarees, lungis, and punjabis are being given to the poor from the prime Minister's treasury. Besides, 10 kg rice are being given to each family as Eid gift from the department of Disaster Management.
Discipline to maintain in health sector
However, there were no initiatives from health ministry on these 100 days. '100 days are very short for health sector, said Dr. Samanta Lal Sen. But they worked for the development of rural health sector. Also worked to prevent corruption from health sector and the process to ban the unlicenced hospital is underway.
Corruption-free land management
To ensure a corruption free land management, they collected land corruption information from hotline number 16122 (Ministry of Land), facebook website, and hotline number of the government 333. 16 district, 32 sub-district, 64 union's settlement office included in these 100 days plan.
The ramp of elevated expressway is underway
Some steps and plans are granted by the ministry of roads and bridge department. In Saturday, the new secretary of this department Manjur Hosen said to the reporters that, elevated expressway ramp was running near FDC gate and build 4 kilomiters 4 way lane from Elenga to the eastern part of the Bangabandhu Bridge.
The government wants FTA with China
Bangladesh wants to sign a free trade agreement (FTA) with China within this period to face the challenge of transitioning from the LDC list in 2026. For this purpose, the two countries jointly exchanged the draft feasibility study report on March 28.
Powerful steps to strengthen relations
After January 7 polls, the powerful countries have spoken to strengthen relations with Bangladesh. This includes the United States, the most active country in the twelfth parliamentary elections.
Finalization of sending workers to Qatar, Jordan, and Mauritius
Secretary of Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare & Overseas Employment , Ruhul Amin told that the Ministry has done a lot in the first 100 days of the government.
Various measures to control air pollution
Environment, Forest and Climate change Minister Saber Hosen Chowdhury taking suggestions from stakeholders to stop air pollution, noise pollution, water pollution, plastic-polythine pollution and hill-cutting. The Minister announced to issue an alert if the air pollution level goes above 250.
Master plan for the development of Cox's Bazar
Secretary of the Ministry of housing and Public works, Nabirul Islam, told that in the first 100 days of the government, expert opinions and GIS data were collected under the master plan project of Cox's Bazar Development Authority. Apart from that, after the completion of the first phase of the passenger shed and sculptures are under construction at Maheskhali, the second phase of the work has started.
