The government is going to organize 42nd special BCS examination to appoint two thousand physicians. According to Public Service Commission (PSC) source, the circular for this BCS examination will be published in this month. The copy of the notification was published on the website of the BG Press on Wednesday. The PSC will recommend to appoint two thousand physicians through special BCS to face the coronavirus situation. In the 39th special BCS around five thousand physicians were appointed after taking 200 marks MCQ and 100 marks viva examinations. The PSC said, during the corona situation according to the Prime Minister’s announcement two thousand physicians were recruited from 39th BCS non cadre. They were recommended for appointment from the 39th BCS waiting list. They were recommended to appoint as assistant surgeon of health cadre. Besides, from the waiting list of senior staff nurse appointment examination-2018 five thousand 54 nurses were recommended for their appointment. AH     

The court has expressed caution on six grounds while appointing housemaids in homes. The directions came from the judge of Dhaka speedy trial tribunal-1 while delivering verdict of former Eden Mohila College principal Mahfuza Chowdhury Parvin murder case on Sunday. The six point directions are- 1. The activities of a housemaid should be strictly monitored for 90 days from the first day of appointment, so that she cannot steal anything from the house. If she commits any unjust work then nearby police station or social service officer should be informed by not beating her. 2. To appoint housemaid detail information should be kept. The bio-data and photograph of the housemaid should be collected and those should be deposited to the concerned police station. 3. Close Circuit Cameras should be installed in the house if there is not. 4. If a housemaid provided job to another then her personal details should be submitted in the concerned police station. 5. All the housemaid providing agencies have to obtain licenses and it should be informed to the police station. 6. Housemaid providing agencies have to deposit photographs and bio-data of all the registered housemaids to the police station. AH       

Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni has said that VC poll will be formed to appoint VCs in the vacant posts in different universities. The minister said this on Sunday in a virtual meeting on measures to fill up vacant posts of VC, Pro-VC and Treasurer in country’s private and public universities. She said, urge was made for sending the list of name and bio data of highest 10 percent Senior Professors of all public universities by August 31 to the ministry. Besides, the Education Minister urged to send the proposed names for the vacant VC, Pro VC and Treasurer posts in private universities by September 10. She said that ministry will take legal action if lists are not sent by the given time. Mentionable, at present there are three VC posts and 25 Pro VC posts are vacant in the public universities. On the other hand, there are 19 VC posts and 83 Pro VC posts are vacant in the private universities. AH  

Health Minister Zahid Maleque on Monday said if the number of Covid-19 patients continues to soar, the government will take steps to appoint additional 2000 physicians to contain the situation. “The government will take steps seeing the situation. It will appoint additional 2000 physicians if the coronavirus situation remains changed. Besides, the process to appoint medical technologists is going on,” he said at a press briefing at the VIP lounge of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport when he went there to see off the Chinese expert team. Talking about the increasing number of coronaviurs cases, the Minister said “If people do not become aware of the highly contagious virus, then all the hospitals of the country will be full of Covid-19 patients. People should be more aware of the virus.” He also emphasised more budget allocation in the health sector to fight coronavirus. Besides, the Minister also said that China is working to develop coronavirus vaccine and the Chinese government has said Bangladesh will get priority in terms of cooperation and support if they can successfully develop vaccine for the coronavirus. Talking about the visit of the Chinese delegation, the Minister said, “The Chinese delegation expressed their satisfaction over the work of Bangladesh in tackling coronavirus crisis. They also suggested the government that there are some areas where improvement is possible. We’ll work on those identified areas in future.” Referring to the testing kits, Zahid Maleque said the government has taken steps to meet the demand and so there is no reason to worry about kits. The 10-member team of Chinese experts, who has the firsthand experience of containing the virus and treating patients with remarkable success, came to Bangladesh with a bunch of medical equipment. Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Li Jiming, who was present at the press briefing, also assured of providing vaccine to Bangladesh on priority basis whet developed. Besides, Prof Abul Kalam Azad, director general of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) also spoke at the press briefing. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said, situation has been taken to such a stage that BNP is struggling to appoint polling agents in the election. He said this to the newsmen after making a courtesy call to Tahkurgaon district Returning Officer on Saturday. Mirza Fakhrul said, not only Thakurgaon, the government is trying to keep BNP and Jatiya Oikyafront far from voting field with help of law enforcement agencies. People always made changes and this time they will change the situation through votes. The Oikyafront spokesman said, the country is covered with voting fear in place of voting festivity. Facing all the fears BNP and Oikyafront will remain in the field of vote till the end whatever the situation will be. Still arrest is going on and administration is informed. Claiming that no influence will be created among the general voters and activists in this regard, Fakhrul in his message to the voters said, votes have to be casted along with people, votes have to be guarded and have to be alert so that anybody cannot steal the votes. Election Commissioner Mahbub Talukder has informed that the Election Commission (EC) will appoint two thousand staffs before the eleventh national parliament election. He said this to the newsmen at his office at the Nirbachan Bhaban at Agargaon in the capital on Thursday. Mahbub Talukder said, of the two thousand staffs 517 people will be appointed as Assistant Upazila Election Officers under the commission. He said, the capability of the commission will be increased if the new election officers are appointed. But that is less than the requirement. The Election Commissioner said, proposals were given to promote 75 officers in the promotion, administrative reforms and readjustment and skill development committee meeting. Promotions are being given in public administration and police keeping ahead the election. The wave also affected the EC. He also said that they will get the promotions if the commission approved. Mahbub Talukder said, EC officers will be inspired and illuminated by the promotions. But decision was not taken over how many Returning Officers will be appointed from the own officers of EC in the next election. He said, the number of manpower in EC is three thousand which is less than the need. According to the EC sources, no recommendation was made to promote anybody as Joint Secretary. 9 Regional Election Officers were recommended for fourth grade. Besides, 29 were recommended for promoting as Deputy Secretary or same posts (fifth grade) and 37 were recommended for Senior Assistant Secretary or same posts. AH
