The Paris Olympics officially started with a grand event. Five athletes from Bangladesh are participating in this year's tournament. Before the opening ceremony. Bangladeshi athletes were given the date to play in the entire tournament.
Of the five athletes, only Archer Sagar Islam has boarded the plane to Paris. The remaining four will compete in the Games with IOC wildcards. Sagar will fight in the main event on July 31.
In the ranking round of recurve singles, Sagar finished 45th out of 64 competitors. He scored 652. His opponent Archer of Italy scored 670 and finished 20th.
Bangladesh archer Sagor Islam finished 45th out of 64 competitors in the ranking round of the men's individual event in the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024 after scoring 652 on Thursday (July 25).
Rabiul Islam will take part in the 10 meter air rifle shooting. His event is scheduled on July 28 at 1:15 p.m. Swimmer Samiul Islam Rafi will compete in the 100-meter freestyle event on July 30 at 3pm.
Swimmer Sonia Khatun will compete in the 50-meter freestyle qualifier on August 3 at 3pm. Besides, Imranur Rahman, the fastest man in the country, will take part in the 100-meter sprint at 10:30 pm on August 4.

Crew ousts Messi-less defending champ Miami in Leagues Cup
Diego Rossi's two second-half goals launched the reigning MLS champion Columbus Crew over defending champion Inter Miami 3-2 to reach the Leagues Cup quarter-finals on Tuesday.

Uruguayan Santiago Rodriguez scored the final goal in the 65th minute from the left side on a left-footed shot inside the far post to give NYCFC the victory.
In Cincinnati, Tai Baribo's two goals lifted the Philadelphia Union to a 4-2 triumph over the hosts.
Philadelphia grabbed a 2-0 lead on goals by Danish forward Mikael Uhre in the 51st minute and Israeli striker Baribo in the 61st.
Czech midfielder Pavel Bucha answered for Cincinnati in the 66th minute and US defender DeAndre Yedlin netted an equalizer for the hosts in the 80th minute.
The Union responded on goals by Baribo in the 82nd and US substitute Quinn Sullivan in the 84th.

Next up for Philadelphia will be a home quarter-final on Saturday against Mazatlan, which defeated Cruz Azul on penalties after playing to a 2-2 draw in Washington.
Mazatlan grabbed a 2-0 half-time lead on goals by Bryan Cholula in the 40th minute and Panamanian midfielder Edgar Barcenas in the first minute of stoppage time.

All-time French goals leader Olivier Giroud is available for LAFC for the first time since the 37-year-old striker's move from AC Milan in May.

Shakib started training with Pakistan team

Mbappe strikes on debut as Madrid beat Atalanta in UEFA Super Cup
Kylian Mbappe enjoyed a "great night" as he struck on his Real Madrid debut to help his new side claim a record sixth UEFA Super Cup with a 2-0 win over Atalanta on Wednesday in Warsaw.
The superstar French forward has waited years to play for his dream club and after finally signing for Los Blancos this summer at the end of his Paris Saint-Germain deal, celebrated his first appearance with a goal.
Fede Valverde broke the deadlock from close range for the Champions League holders in the 59th minute after the Italian Europa League winners held their own in the first half.
Madrid began to rack up the chances and Mbappe rifled home in the 68th minute after Jude Bellingham spotted his dart into space in the box to seal the victory.
"It was a great night, I've been waiting for this moment for a long time, to play with this shirt, with this badge, for these fans," Mbappe told Movistar, speaking in fluent Spanish.
Madrid's triumph ensured coach Carlo Ancelotti equaled former Los Blancos coach Miguel Munoz on a joint-record 14 titles won at the helm of the club.
The Italian's first task this season is designing a system that can get the best out of his array of attacking stars.
Mbappe began through the middle of Madrid's forward line, flanked by Vinicius Junior on the left and Rodrygo Goes on the right, in the first look at how he might fit into Ancelotti's plans this season.

Mbappe eventually delivered it with a lethal finish after Bellingham, named player of the match, kept an attack alive and spotted the Frenchman's clever movement.
The 25-year-old striker was given an ovation by Madrid's fans after Ancelotti brought him off in the 83rd minute, likely the first of many.
Mbappe said that he expected to improve in the weeks ahead, with Madrid's La Liga campaign starting on Saturday against Real Mallorca.
"I am sure we will get better and me first of all -- but today is a positive step," added the striker.
Rodrygo said Ancelotti had told the forwards to shift their positions frequently, something evident in the second half.
"The coach asked us to go changing positions a lot, or staying apart," the Brazilian told Movistar.
"They were man-marking, so we had to move and that's what happened during the game."

Australia's Raygun says Olympic backlash 'devastating'
Australian breakdancer Raygun has spoken out against the "pretty devastating" hatred unleashed online since her widely lampooned Paris Olympics performance.
Rachael "Raygun" Gunn, a 36-year-old Sydney University lecturer, has been ridiculed by some and cheered by others for her unique performance in Paris, where she won none of her three face-offs against other B-Girls.
Gunn thanked her supporters and said she was glad to bring them some joy, in a video from a Brussels street posted on her Instagram account on Thursday.
"I didn't realize that that would also open the door to so much hate, which has frankly been pretty devastating," she said.
"Well, I went out there and I had fun. I did take it very seriously. I worked my butt off preparing for the Olympics and I gave my all. Truly."
Gunn's kangaroo-mimicking moves and Australia-logoed tracksuit have been parodied worldwide, including by late-night US television host Jimmy Fallon.
She has faced much stronger criticism and ridicule online.
The Australian Olympic Committee has decried a "misleading and bullying" online petition that described Gunn's performance as "unethical" and questioned how she was chosen for Paris.
"In regards to the allegations and misinformation floating around, I'd like to ask everyone to please refer to the recent statement made by the AOC," Gunn said in her video.
The poll on Change.org, which garnered tens of thousands of signatures demanding a public apology from the dancer, was unavailable on the platform on Friday.
Gunn said she planned to remain in Europe for a few weeks for some "pre-planned downtime".
In the meantime, she asked the media to "stop harassing" her family, friends, and the breakdancing community.
"Everyone has been through a lot as a result of this so I ask you to please respect their privacy," she said, promising to answer more questions on her return to Australia.
Gunn's Olympic moves won support from many people, including her fellow Australian Olympians. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese praised her this week for "having a go".
Breaking will not be on the program for the next Olympics in Los Angeles in four years.

Bangladesh HP beat Perth to confirm semifinal
Bangladesh High Performance (HP) team confirmed the Top End T20 series semifinal after edging Perth Scorchers by three wickets in a thrilling contest at Darwin today.
The victory helped HP move to the third spot in the points table with six points from six matches.
In their crucial match, HP bowlers put up a superb performance to help the side bolster its position. After winning the toss, the HP sent Perth in to bat first and restricted them to paltry 129-5.
Perth, nevertheless, denied HP making it a cake-walk as they fought neck-to-neck before the Bangladeshi side overhauled the target with 130-7 in 19.3 overs.
No. 8 batter Mahfuzur Rahman Rabby played a vital role in the thrilling victory, hitting 13 ball-32 not out. His knock included two fours and as many sixes sailed the side home when Bangladesh looked to taste a defeat by being reduced to 89-6 in 16.1 overs.
