Schedules finalised as Pakistan and Sri Lanka to host Asia Cup
The Asia Cup-2023 will begin on August 31 to September 17 in Pakistan and Sri Lanka this year, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) confirmed through a press release. According to the ACC press release, "The upcoming Asia Cup will be played on the hybrid model. Out of the total 13 matches, 4 will be played in Pakistan and the remaining 9 will be played in Sri Lanka.” A total of 6 teams will participate in the upcoming Asia Cup. India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Nepal will be divided into two groups. The best two teams from each group will qualify for the Super Four stage.  Where the best two teams of the Super Four stage will play in the final. Earlier, the Asia Cup was supposed to be held only in Pakistan. However, India refused to play in Pakistan due to security concern.  As a result, the Pakistan Cricket Board presented the hybrid model of the tournament to the ACC with the venue of another country besides Pakistan. Although the United Arab Emirates was initially named as an alternative venue, this time Sri Lanka has been taken the responsibility of hosting the tournament along with Pakistan.
