Recently 112 workers were sent back to the country from Abu Dhabi though they had corona-negative certificates and visas. To solve the complexities investigation committee has been formed. The expatriate remittance fighters are in disarray as they were sent back in the country in the period of coronavirus pandemic. Their savings are getting finished. One such expatriate said, I am passing my professional life in overseas for the last 15 years. What I would do if I am not allowed to return. My company is saying that everything is okay and you may come back. But I am unable to go. I am not getting my ticket. Even we are not getting any information on how we would go to our designated country. In this regard Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Imran Ahmed said, decision will be taken after getting the recommendation of the investigation committee to send the 112 expatriates to their work places under government expenditure. Over thousand students gathered in this manner in front of Raju sculpture in Dhaka University on Sunday. Later they took part in the protest program of ‘Sweeping streets with certificates’ from Raju sculpture area to central Shaheed Minar area. The program was organized under the banner of Bangladesh General Students’ Rights Protection Association. The students took their position in front of central public library at 10:30 am with certificates on their neck and brooms in their hands. They sweep the streets from there through TSC to the way to Shaheed Minar. Then they sweep the Shaheed Minar premises. They marched through Jagannath hall to Fuller road and held a short protest rally at VC intersection. One of the organizers of the movement Faruk Hossain said, ‘Our demand has turned into public demand already. We are not for cancellation of freedom fighter quota. We have talked about overall quota reformation. We hope that the Prime Minister will meet our demand’. Another coordinator Hasan Al Mamun said, ‘Prime Minister was wrongly convinced. She took many unprecedented decisions earlier. We hope that the Prime Minister will accept our demand’. A demonstration was held on March 18 demanding reformation of existing quota system in government job and for withdrawal of police cases against the demonstrators.
