Final decision to cancel Ziaur Rahman’s ‘Bir Uttam’ title
Jatiya Muktijoddha Council (JaMuKa) has finally decided to cancel the ‘Bir Uttam’ title of former president and BNP founder Ziaur Rahman. The decision was taken at a meeting of JaMuKa on Sunday. JaMuKa member and Member of Parliament Shajahan Khan said, committee has been formed to send the proposal to the government. There are some misdeeds committed by Zia and for that reason JaMuKa decided to cancel the title. The mentionable reasons are- violating the constitution, cancelling the fundamental principles of the constitution, helping the self declared killers of Bangabandhu and maintaining relation with them, for maintaining secret communication with them, maintaining association with the killers that were mentioned in different interviews by the self declared killers, helping them to leave the country and appoint them in different important posts and though being a freedom fighter forming cabinet consisting the anti liberation characters. Former president and BNP founder Ziaur Rahman was one of the sector commanders in the liberation war. For his role in the liberation war the Awami League government led by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman adorned him with the ‘Bir Uttam’ title after the independence. On 15th August 1975 some misguided members of army killed Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman along with his family members. From the top level of Bangladesh Awami League there were allegations of Zia’s involvement in the killing. AH

‘AL should award posthumous reception to Zia in golden jubilee’
BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy said, martyred president and BNP founder Ziaur Rahman moved forward with the unfinished tasks of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman during his stay in prison. Ziaur Rahman declared the independence of Bangladesh in absence of Bangabandhu after accepting his leadership during the liberation war. For this reason Awami League should award posthumous reception to Ziaur Rahman on the eve of golden jubilee of independence. He said this at a human chain organized in front of Jatiya Press Club on Friday. National Democratic Party (NDP), a component of 20-part alliance observed the program protesting the decision of cancelling Ziaur Rahman’s ‘Beer Uttam’ title. Gayeshwar Roy said, martyred president Ziaur Rahman was a state recognized title owner freedom fighter. He was the only Beer Uttam title owner who with extreme brevity fought the liberation war staying in the land of Bangladesh. So the title should not be snatched away rather he should be given posthumous reception by the government. Criticizing Jatiya Muktijoddha Council (JaMuKa) he said, a number of fake freedom fighters were made during the tenure of Awami League government. Many of them are withdrawing allowances and doing services. After seeing these it seems that their contributions are more than the frontline freedom fighters. Participants in the human chain protested the decision of cancelling Ziaur Rahman’s title and demanded its withdrawal. NDP chairman AM Abu Taher and Labor Party chairman Mostafizur Rahman delivered speeches among others in the human chain. AH

Ziaur Rahman being diminished by lying: Fakhrul
“He who declared the independence of the country, fought the liberation war, is being diminished by lying”. BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said this for Ziaur Rahman on pretext of the speech of Bangabandhu’s killer Mazed. He was delivering speech on Sunday at a virtual memorial meeting on the occasion of 51st birth anniversary of sports organizer late Arafat Rahman Koko organized by Bangladesh Sports Development Council. Mirza Fakhrul said, basically the chemistry of Awami League is the chemistry of partisan politics. There is nothing for them to practice about impartiality or preferring the efficiency. As a result they have covered the country by partisan politics. It is their ideology and policy. They had established one party politics in the country in 1975. But we have not forgotten those. Truth cannot be covered so easily. About Arafat Rahman Koko he said, Koko worked successfully taking sports as sports keeping himself out of politics. He made the base of today’s cricket. But it is so sad that we forget those very easily. The program presided by Bangladesh Sports Development Council president and member of BNP Chairperson’s advisory council Abdus Salam where former BCB senior vice president and BNP executive committee member Shah Nurul Kabir Shahin, former Bangladesh cricket team captain Shafiqul Haque Hira, BNP executive committee member Tabith Awal, Engineer Ishrak Hossain, former BCB joint secretary Rafiqul Islam Babu and divisional sports organizing council member Qazi Mahiuddin Bulbul delivered speeches. The program was moderated by BNP sports affairs secretary and former national teal footballer Aminul Haque. AH
