The book 'War & Women' written by Dr MA Hasan was launched in UN the building on 24 March 2023. The event was organized by Bangladesh Freedom Fighters in Europe Amin Khshru from Frankfurt, Tazul Islam from Zurich and Dr Iqbal Ahmed from Geneva were present & spoke against Pak Army on genocide in 1971. Tazul Islam, a Bangladeshi freedom fighter based in Zurich was the chief guest. He spoke about the significance of the book, which was a testimony of Bengali women being subjected to atrocities and sexual abuse by Pakistan Army during the 1971 war.  This was termed as Genocide and Tazul Islam urged the United Nations Human Rights Council to take punitive action against Pakistan. Executive members from International NGOs were also present in the book launch event held at the serpentine cafetaria inside the UN building. A total of 25-30 people were present in the book launch ceremony. Through a video presentation from Dhaka, Dr Hasan, author of the book explained the reality of such abuse committed by Pakistani soldiers. Lamino, a Human rights defender from Geneva, spoke on the event and urged the Human Rights Council to take action against the perpetrators of the genocide.

Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) has published the results of 40th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) written examination. Total 10 thousand 964 candidates have passed the examination. The results were approved on Wednesday at a meeting of PSC. The results have been published on the PSC website. Besides, it can be known through TeleTalk mobile phone by sending message. In the 40th BCS examination preliminary test was held on May 3, 2019 and the results were published on July 25 of that year. Although the written examination was held on January last year but the results were stalled due to Covid-19. The viva examination will start from February 16, 2021. AH  

In Rajshahi BNP nominated mayoral candidate Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul filed written complaint with Returning Officer’s office one day ahead of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) election. The BNP candidate appealed for security of voters, polling agents from starting of voting to till the end and to stop arresting. Chief electoral agent of Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul and district BNP president Tofazzal Hossain Topu submitted the complaint to the Returning Officer at around 12 pm on Sunday. BNP chairperson’s adviser Mizanur Rahman Minu, Rajshahi city BNP general secretary Advocate Shafiqul Haque Milon among others were present at that moment. It was mentioned in the complaint that 30 to 32 leaders and activists including polling agents for the symbol Sheaf of Paddy were arrested on July 27 and 28. Plain cloth police going door to doors are repeatedly threatening party leaders and activists for not staying at home. They are forcing for not going to vote centers. The complaint also mentioned, following repeated written and verbal request to the Election Commission we were not supplied the list of Presiding Officers. If necessary, legal action will be taken in this regard. In a press conference Mosaddek Hossain Bulbul said, we are still in the election showing tolerance to all kinds of repression. Local administration and police are acting in such a way for Awami League, so that we can say that election atmosphere is not fair. We will go to the field on the day of election binding winding-sheet on our head. He said, we are requesting all to go to the vote centers with patience by not violating the tradition of Rajshahi. So far we have filed complaints of violating electoral code of conduct were not granted. Our 23-24 Polling Agents are missing. Others are being given threat. Police threatened to pick up former district BNP leader Delwar from home. So we have filed the complaint to Election Commission. We have sought security for our Polling Agents and also demand their release. AH          

Dhaka University Proctor, Professor AKM Golam Rabbani said, nobody filed written complain to me over the incidents of attack on quota reform agitators that happened at the university campus on Saturday and Monday. Action will be taken if anybody files the written complain. He said these to the newsmen and students present at his arts building office on Tuesday. Earlier at around 12 pm the anti repression students confined him. After being confined for about 30 minutes he got out of his room. In response to a question of after how many attacks would you think yourself as a failed person, the Proctor said, after Eid vacation the university opened on July 1. The classes resumed from Monday. I am working on how to maintain the educational atmosphere. Probe committee was formed over the attack on students on January 23. Action was taken accordingly. Find out and identify the people seem to be threat for the university, we will go for action against them. When students asked what will happen after arrest of Rashed and Nur Hossain Nur, the Proctor left the place without answering. Earlier, the anti repression students formed human chain in front of Aparajeyo Bangla protesting the attack on students. On Monday morning when quota reform agitators tried to gather at the central Shaheed Minar premises then Chhatra League activists attacked on them. They dispersed the gathering by force. A number of students were injured in the incident. Two were admitted in Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Joint Convener of Bangladesh General Students Rights Protection Forum Nurul Haque was severely assaulted over the incident of attack by Chhatra League on agitating students who demand quota reformation in government service. He is a post graduate student of English department of Dhaka University. The forum leaders were demanding Prime Minister’s declaration of no quota system in government service issuing as a gazette notification. Earlier they were in movement demanding quota reformation. AH
