407 killed in road accidents during Eid-ul-Fitr
At least 407 people were killed in 399 accidents on the country's roads and highways during the Eid-ul-Fitr this year. In addition, 1398 people were injured. This information has revealed in the observation of Bangladesh Jatri Kalyan Samity. Mozammel Hoque Chowdhury,  secretary general of the organisation disclosed this information at a press conference at Dhaka Reporters' Unity (DRU) in the capital on Saturday (April 20).  He said in a written statement that 407 people were killed and 1398 people were injured among 399 road accidents in last 15 days from the starting of Eid journey 4 April to 18 April when return to workplace. In last Eid-Ul-Fitr 2023, 328 people were killed and 565 were injured among 304 road accidents. Comparing to last year, road accidents 31.25%, Loss of life 24.08%, and Injured 147.43% has increased. According to the reports, motorcycle accidents were in top of road accidents as usual. 165 people were killed and 240 people were injured among 198 motorcycle accidents in this Eid which is 49.62% of road accidents, 40.54% of killed people and 30.37% of injured people. During this period, 24 people were killed and 21 injured in 18 accidents on the railway. Seven people were killed and five injured in two accidents on waterways. A total of 438 people were killed and 1,424 others injured in 419 accidents on road, rail and waterways.

Road accidents kill 18 in a single day
At least 18 people were killed in road accidents across the country during Eid day. Most of them are motorcyclists. On Thursday (April 11), the shadow of mourning has descended on the families of those who where deceased in these accidents. Among the deceased, four died in Panchagarh, three in Khagrachhari, two in Narsingdi, one in Dhaka, one in Brahmanbaria, one in Jashore, three in Netrokona, one in Chuadangaa and two in Narail.

16 lives lost in road crash across country
At least 16 people were killed in road accidents in eight districts of the country. Many others were injured in these incidents. This information was revealed in the report sent by Rtv representatives from Tuesday (Aprin 9) morning to afternoon. Mymensingh: Three accidents took place in Mymensingh Sadar, Trishal and Tarakanda upazilas of the district from Tuesday morning to afternoon. Eight people, including three of a family, were killed in the incidents. Tangail: A man was killed in a collision between a pick-up van and a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Madhupur in Tangail on Tuesday afternoon. Another person was also injured in that incident. Dinajpur: A motorcyclist named Babul Hossain (40) was killed in a collision between two motorcycles on Dinajpur-Gobindaganj highway on Tuesday afternoon. Kurigram: A man was killed in a collision between a trolley and a motorcycle on Kurigram-Bhurungamari highway on Tuesday noon Besides, two people were killed in Sitakunda and three in Munshiganj, Bogura and Gaibandha. At least six people were injured in the incident.

At least 5 killed in sylhet road crash
Five people have been killed in a head-on collision between a pickup truck and a mini truck (Leguna) at ‎Jaintiapur in Sylhet. The accident took place on Sylhet-Tamabil highway on Monday (March 18) afternoon.  The deceased were identified as Mangali Patra (55), Sabitri Patra (35), Suchita Patra (35), Ritu Patra (8) and six-month-old Bijli who is the daughter of Suchita Patra.  According to the locals, the pickup van coming from the opposite direction collided head-on with the Leguna in front of the Rural Electrification Office.  Ten members of the same family, including women and children, were injured. The injured were taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital (SOMCH) where doctors declared three of them dead.  Later, two more died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

3 dead, 30 injured in Faridpur road crash
Three dead  killed as a bus overturned in Bhanga upazila of Faridpur on Friday morning (March 8). At least 30 people were injured in the incident.  The accident took place at Babnatala bus stand on the Dhaka-Barisal highway. Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Bhanga Highway Police Station,  Abu Sayeed, confirmed the matter. According to the information, fire service personnel and highway police rushed to the spot and rescued the injured and admitted them to Bhanga Hospital. Bhanga Fire Service Station Manager Abu Jafar said the car bus of Imran Travels was going to Dhaka from Barisal. The bus lost control on the road and overturned. The injured were taken to Bhanga Hospital.

Bailey Road Tragedy: Top officials of real estate company Amin Mohammad Group vanish
Fire broke out at a multi-storey building at Green Cozy Cottage on Bailey Road in the capital around 9:50pm on Thursday ( Feb 29 ). So far 46 people have died in the tragedy, most of them died from smoke inhalation than by fire burn. There was a clothing store on the third floor of the building. The rest were restaurants. The restaurants had gas cylinders in it. Gas cylinders made the fire intense and it has spread terribly. Amin Mohammad Group is one of the leading real estate companies. They constructed the building Green Cozy Cottage. The Green Cozy Cottage was managed by Amin Mohammad Property Management Services Limited  (AMPM) which is a sister concern of Amin Mohammad Group.  According to some sources, Amin Mohammad Group handed over the flats to AMPM in 2015.  AMPM holds all the rights of the building including it's security, safety measures, personnel for guarding, and lifts. After the tragic incident, Most of the senior officials mobile phones were found switched off. Additionally, executive director of Amin Mohammad Group, Mohammad Tanvirul Islam, left Dhaka by a Turkish Airlines flight early Friday (March 1), an intelligence agency and immigration at the airport said.  On the other hand, senior officials were absent in the head office of Amin Mohammad Group in the capital. The lawyer of Amin Mohammad Group, Zahid also refused to talk to reporters when contacted.

Bailey Road Tragedy: 43 dead bodies handed over
The dead bodies of 43 people who lost their lives at Green Cozy Cottage on Bailey Road in the capital have been handed over to their relatives. Two bodies are still lying in the morgue of Dhaka Medical College Hospital and one at Sheikh Hasina Burn Institute. Additional district magistrate AKM Hedayetul Islam of the Dhaka district administration confirmed the information on Saturday afternoon (March 2). Earlier on March 1, the relatives received the bodies of 40 people. The identities of the two bodies currently in Dhaka Medical College Hospital have not been identified yet. On the other hand, the process of handing over the body of journalist Abhishruti Shastri pending due to identity complications. Earlier, The fire broke out at a multi-storey building on Bailey Road in the capital around 9:50pm on Thursday ( Feb 29 ).

At least 13 teachers and students killed in Bailey Road fire
At least 46 people have been killed in a massive fire that broke out at a multi-storey commercial building on Bailey Road in the capital. A teacher and 12 students were reported dead. The fire broke out at a multi-storey building on Bailey Road in the capital around 9:50pm on Thursday ( Feb 29 ). So far 46 people have died.  In addition, at least 22 people were seriously burnt. It is feared that the death toll may increase further as none of them is out of danger.

PM mourns casualties in Baily Road building fire
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the casualties in a devastating commercial building fire in the city's Baily Road area. In a message of condolence, she prayed for peace of the departed souls and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved families, said an official release of press wing of Prime Minister. The Prime Minister also asked the authorities concerned to take prompt measures to give proper treatment to the injured persons. 44 killed in devastating Bailey Road fire incident
At least 44 people, including men, women and children have been killed in a fire that broke out in a multi-storey building at Kachchi Bhai Restaurant on Bailey Road in the capital.  Health Minister Samanta Lal Sen confirmed that at least 43 people including women and children had been declared dead at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital. He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is monitoring the fire incident. Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Bangladesh Police, Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun told reporters that another one victin died in the fire at Central Police Hospital, Rajarbag. The fire service rescued 75 people alive. Of them, 45 were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in an unconscious state.
