BUET students relax movement, entry test on October 14
BUET admission test will be held on October 14. Considering the entry test participants the movement has been relaxed but not suspended. The agitating students announced this at around 2:30 pm on Saturday. Students said that they will continue their movement but it will be relaxed for October 13 and 14 due to entry test in the university. At that time the students thanked the Prime Minister. They said that the premier was beside them from the beginning. Earlier the BUET administration published the notice after meeting the 5-point demand of the students which were placed protesting the murder of Abrar. The five conditions placed by the students: 1. All the accused of Abrar Fahad murder case have to be expelled temporarily from the university immediately. Those who will be charge sheeted have to be expelled permanently. The BUET administration has to issue notice in this regard. 2. BUET administration has to bear all the expenses of the Abrar murder case and his family must be compensated. This has to be mentioned in the notice. 3. Organizational politics has to be banned on BUET campus and all the illegal students have to be evicted from the halls. Office rooms of organizational politics have to be sealed. What steps would the authority take if anybody involves in organizational politics that should be mentioned in details in the notice. Besides, there should be a team to monitor and that has to be mentioned in the notice. 4. There has to be a common platform on BIIS account to publish incidents of student repression, harassment, ragging of the past and to prevent those in future. There has to be a committee for monitoring to ensure punishment. It should be ensured in the notice. 5. Close Circuit cameras have to be installed on both sides of all floors in all the dormitories and CCTV footage should be monitored round the clock- this should be mentioned in the notice. BUET student Abrar Fahad was beaten to death at Sher-e-Bangla hall in the midnight of October 6. In this connection more than one dozen Chhatra League leaders and activists were arrested. AH
