Bangladesh has been allotted a quota of 127,198 pilgrims for the annual ritual. Of them, 10,198 can perform Hajj under government management and 117,000 under private management. Leaving 90,764 seats vacant, only 36,689 people have registered.   The government will extend the registration period for the third time to allow Bangladeshi pilgrims to perform Hajj this year.   The general Hajj package will cost Tk 578,840 and the special package Tk 936,320. Hajj will be performed in mid-June, depending on the sighting of the moon.   Officials at the religious affairs ministry say the registration deadline will likely be extended by a month in two phases.   Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam, and all Muslims are required to undertake it at least once in their lives if they are physically and financially able to do so. For the pilgrims, it is a profound spiritual experience that wipes away sins, brings them closer to God and highlights Muslim unity.

Online registration for enrolment to Indian Army as AGNIVEER has commenced. People will be allowed from now to receive COVID-19 vaccines without registration or any documents from any centre across the country.   "On February 26, we will complete administering the first dose of vaccination. All respective hospitals and vaccination centres have been directed to immunize coronavirus vaccine with any registration" Dr Shamsul Haque, member secretary of the National Covid-19 Vaccine Management Taskforce told a virtual briefing here today.    Anyone will be able to get COVID-19 vaccine only giving mobile number, he said, "The people, who received first dose of coronavirus vaccine, will be given a card... this card is given as a document for receiving second or booster dose."   According to the Directorate General of Health service(DGHS), Bangladesh has set a target to vaccinate one crore people with COVID-19 jabs on February 26 through launching a nationwide vaccination campaign.   "We will conduct the countrywide COVID-19 vaccination on February 26... a total of one crore people will receive the first dose of coronavirus vaccine," it added. Pakistan's cybercrime wing has said that the National Database and Registration Authority's (NADRA) biometric data has been hacked, local media reported. According to Pakistani newspaper Dawn, the Federal Investigation Agency's (FIA) cybercrime wing revealed that biometric data has been hacked while fake SIMs are being exported. The case came to light on Thursday. "Nadra's data has been compromised, it has been hacked," Tariq Pervez, FIA Cybercrime Wing Additional Director said during a briefing to the National Assembly Standing Committee on Information Technology and Telecommunication. Citing a statement, Dawn reported that Tariq said that all of NADRA's data had not been hacked. "During the SIM verification process involving biometric data, NADRA's biometric system is compromised." Dawn reported quoting FIA official as saying that 13,000 fake SIMs were seized during a crackdown in Faisalabad. He stated that the wing had received 89,000 cybercrime complaints so far, and did not have sufficient number of staff to address the complaints reported on a daily basis. "The FIA's cybercrime wing only has 162 investigation officers," the official added. Meanwhile, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Chairman retired Maj Gen Amir Azeem Bajwa said that no mobile phone company had been given permission to sell SIMs door-to-door. "There has been a 600 per cent decrease in the sale of illegal SIMs during the past one year," Dawn reported quoting him saying. He said that people's thumbprints are taken using "illegal methods", adding that the thumbprint system was now being phased out. On August 31, NADRA launched a mobile phone application which enabled citizens to use their smartphones for biometric verification. Last year in April, a data breach involving the sale of data of 115 million Pakistanis on the darknet was reported, according to Dawn. Health Directorate has fallen into pressure after coronavirus vaccine producing agency Serum Institute of India suddenly suspended vaccine export to Bangladesh. Due to vaccine crisis the directorate has suspended vaccine registration process after suspending vaccination process of the first dose. Additional Director General of the health directorate Professor Mirzady Sabrina Flora delivered the information to the news media on Wednesday. She said, now vaccine registration process has been suspended. Because the consignment of the vaccine yet to arrive. In the mean time we want to complete vaccination for the people who received the first dose. Registration process for the Covid-19 vaccination has been suspended until further notice is given. Meanwhile, so far 31 lakh 6 thousand 709 people have taken vaccine doses after beginning of the process of second dose. 58 lakh 19 thousand 757 people have taken the first dose vaccine. Total 89 lakh 26 thousand 466 people have taken both doses of vaccine. AH   

The facility of spot registration at the Covid-19 vaccination center has been stopped for interim period. The information was delivered by Health Minister Zahid Maleque at a program in the capital on Thursday. The minister said, excess gathering has been created as unregistered people are coming at the center. The health directorate kept the facility of registration at the vaccination center for the people of remote area who have no smart phones. So far over 10 lakh people have registered to get themselves vaccinated. By this time more than three lakh people were given the vaccine. The decision of stopping spot registration has been taken for smooth operation of vaccination activities. He said, we have created a beautiful environment for vaccination. But we can see that the number of unregistered people is increasing in the centers. Even the registered people cannot enter at the center. Elderly people are suffering more. Staffs engaged in vaccination activities like physicians and nurses are also suffering. We cannot allow this type of situation. As the registration process is going on successfully and it has reached more than 10 lakh, so we will not perform any spot registration. Zahid Maleque informed that from now people who would go to the vaccination centers after registration will be given vaccines. It will be informed later whether on spot registration will be needed or not. He also informed that people’s confusion is getting over to be vaccinated and their eagerness is increasing. AH      

The registration of English medium schools has been made compulsory. The education ministry has directed secondary and higher education directorate, education boards and nine regional deputy directors to implement the decision. The direction said, it is compulsory to obtain registration from the education boards after depositing fee for the English medium schools which are being operated under foreign curriculum according to the private schools registration rules and regulations. It also asked the concerned officials to deliver the information on the total number of registered and unregistered schools in the country. The directions mentioned section 19(3) of the rules and regulations saying that fees can be taken from the students for special facilities or using modern equipments or technological support or for running coeducation in the private schools. But in this case guardians should be informed written about the description of the expenditure by the managing committee. Guardians complain that they are usually not informed about the fee information. Besides, the direction letter also mentioned that there are provisions for delivering information on the amount of yearly or monthly tuition fee, admission fee, sports fee, library fee, printing fee and other fees.     Read In Bangla Version AH

Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, chief coordinator of Bangabandhu's Birth Centenary Celebration National Implementation Committee, made the announcement at the press briefing. Professor Rafiqul Islam, chairman of the national implementation committee, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni and Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, among others, attended the event. “Anyone can register at www. event.mujib100.gov.bd from 3pm of January 6 to midnight of January 7.
