Superstar Shakib Khan and well known director Raihan Rafi have teamed up on film ‘Toofan’. Dhaka-based production house Alpha-I Studios, OTT platform Chorki and renowned Indian production company SVF will jointly produce the film. The film was announced at a press conference at a hotel in Dhaka on Monday (Dec 11). Addressing the event, Raihan Rafi said, “I am very excited because three big companies - Alpha-I, Chorki and SVF, have teamed up to make two films. Besides, this my first film with Bangladesh superstar Shakib Khan.”

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said, the main accused in connection with Raihan murder case in Sylhet has been identified. Efforts are going on to detain him. He will be detained soon. Nobody has been spared after committing crime. Police members will not be spared also if they commit crimes. He said this to the newsmen at Tangail Circuit House on Saturday afternoon. Asaduzzaman Khan said, Prime Minister is working for modernizing police force. She will provide two helicopters to the police force very soon. Besides, modern hospital will also be constructed for the police members. He said, in some sporadic incidents where police members are committing crimes, breaking disciplines they are not being spared. They have been produced before law. AH

Salma Begum, mother of slain Raihan, has alleged that efforts are going on to conceal the murder case against Sylhet Metropolitan Police Sub Inspector Akbar. She told Rtv news that at first police said it was an incident of mass beating. Due to the protest a police Constable named Titu Chandra Das was arrested and later taken for remand. Now to divert the case different rumors are being spread, she alleged. Salma Begum said, it is being heard that Akbar used to come at a place named Akhalia to take wine. There my son Raihan prohibited him to enter and from that incident enmity between Akbar and Raihan arose- this type of rumors are being spread. She claimed that her son had no enmity with SI Akbar and they were not known to each other. She said, lying and baseless information are being spread. To divert the incident of Raihan killing a vested quarter is spreading propaganda on social media. They should be brought under the law. Salma Begum said, my son had no enmity with others. My innocent son was beaten to death by SI Akbar and his associates and I want justice. Meanwhile, PBI Sylhet district Police Super Khaleduzzaman told Rtv news that they have heard about the allegation that Akbar used to go to Akhalia to take wine. All are under investigation. Those who are associated with Raihan killing and are spreading rumors will be brought under law. Drives are on to detain the main accused Akbar. AH      

Raihan Kabir, a youth from Narayangonj, who had to face the embarrass situation after providing an interview on Al Jazeera, is being sent back to Bangladesh tonight. The information was delivered by Malaysian immigration chief and the news was published on Metro online version. The immigration chief said, the immigration department will take Raihan to the Kuala Lumpur airport at 9 pm to send him in Bangladesh. Earlier, Raihan’s lawyers said that he will be sent to the country very soon as the Malaysian immigration department did not file any new complain against him. After the detainment Raihan was sent to 14-day detention and immigration department took him for 13-day remand. As his remand completed on August 19, he will be sent to his country after the air ticket is available, said Raihan’s lawyers. Mentionable, in a documentary of AlJazeera television Raihan Kabir said that Malaysian government is doing discriminatory attitude to the expatriates by detaining them and sending them into jail. After his remarks, being angry the Malaysian government issued summon against him. He was arrested on July 24. AH
