Baby Nazneen's mother Abida Mansur passed away. She was 75 when she died. She breathed her last at a hospital in the capital on Thursday (April 18th) while undergoing treatment at CCU.  Baby Nazneen's brother Enam Sarkar confirmed the death of his mother. "My mother had been suffering from some complications including kidney disease for a long time. She had been under treatment at home and hospital for several years. Before the last Eid, my mothers's physical condition became more serious. Since then, mom was being treated at the hospital."

Actress Prarthana Fardin Dighi stepped on the big screen as a child artist. She has received praises for acting in several films. She won the National Film Award three times for acting as a child artist.  Still, the acting of that little dighi floats in the eyes of the audience and his sweet dialogue rings in the ear. Dighi is no longer a child artist, she has written the name of the film as a heroine after a long break. Eid-ul-Fitr is celebrated everywhere. How was Dighi's Eid? He talked to Rtv about Eid. In a recent interview, Dighi said, "Eid means joy, no matter how much fun I have with everyone in the family, Eid hurts me very much. Because i lost my mother in my childhood. In my childhood, I used to eat my mother's cooking on the day of Eid. Like all mothers in the world, my mother had a lot of fun cooking. I miss my mother so much on Eid. I feel empty without her."

Film actress Puja Cherry's mother Jharna Roy passes away. She breathed her last at his home in Mirpur on Sunday (24 March) at around 11 am. According to some sources, Jharna Roy was suffering from illness. Abdul Aziz, the chief executive officer of Jaaz Multimedia, confirmed the news of the death of the actress's mother. Abdul Aziz said that Jharna Roy had been suffering from illness for a long time from various medical conditions. She was a diabetic patient and her diabetes level had increased as well. A few weeks ago, her physical condition started deteriorating. As a result, she was taken to a hospital in Mirpur. There she underwent treatment for 15 days with seven days in an ICU. When she recovered, she was taken home when her condition improved.  However, Pooja made her debut in film as a child artist in the movie 'Bhalobashar Rong'. Later in 2018, she made her debut as a heroine on the big screen with 'Noor Jahan'.

21 February is the International Mother Language Day . The day is observed as National Martyr's day since 1952. UNESCO declared 21st February as International Mother Language Day by on November 17, 1999. The whole nation observe the day remembering the supreme sacrifice of the language martyrs, the brave sons of the country for upholding the dignity of mother tongue Bangla. The plot of the language  movement begins when the then governor of pakistan,  Muhammad Ali Jinnah, on 21 March 1948 declared at a public meeting that ''Urdu and  Urdu will be the state language of Pakistan.'' The student community instantly denied his proposal saying 'no' and thus the struggle begins. On February 21, 1952, students alone with the common people of Dhaka marched in the streets to protest. To protect mother tongue, Salam, Barkat, Rafiq, Shafiq and Jabbar sacrificed their lives. The homage to the language martyrs began with placing of flowers at the Central Shaheed Minar in the early hours of 21st February. The program 'Prabhat Feri' starts in the morning to the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the rights of Bangla language.  Language martyrs are remembered with respect in various events throughout the day.

A mother has allegedly committed suicide by strangling her two children with a pillow at Komalpur village, in Dumuria upazila of Khulna district. The tragic incident occurred on Saturday (Jan 27) around 2 pm, said Khulna’s Additional Superintendent of Police Asif Iqbal. The deceased were identified as Doly Begum, 38, wife of Mannan Sarder, a resident of Kamalpur village in the upazila, and her two children---six-year-old daughter Fatema and seven-month-old son Omar. Following this horrifying act, she committed suicide by hanging herself at home.   Upon receiving the information, the police went to the scene, recovered the bodies, and transported them to the Dumuria Upazila Health Complex. Officer in-charge of Dumuria Police Station Sukanta Saha said being informed police recovered the bodies and sent those to a morgue for autopsy. He said police suspected that Doly might have killed her children before committing suicide between 8am and 11am over family feud.  

Naheed Ezaher Khan, MP and Foreign Secretary Ambassador Mr. Masud Bin Momen received Queen Mother Dorji Wanmgmo Wangchuckand and her Royal Delegation of Bhutan during their transit at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka this evening (22 December, 2023). The Queen Mother conveyed her best regards, appreciation and deep respect to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on behalf of her Royal Family. She also deeply appreciated the Government of Bangladesh for making all the arrangements during the transit at Dhaka.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said mutual support is the only means for the existence of mankind and the Earth on Saturday, September 9. She said.“The reality is humans and our Mother Earth can exist only by mutual support.”  The prime minister was addressing the ‘Session: One Earth’ in the G20 Leaders’ Summit 2023 at the Bharat Mandapam Center (ECC) at the Pragati Maidan here. For the existence of the humans and the Earth, Sheikh Hasina also has called for a global order which should pave solutions to poverty alleviation, mitigating climate change effects, preventing conflicts, and financing technological transfer for a knowledge-based society. The theme for this G20 summit is “One Earth, One Family, One Future.”

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today conferred ‘Ekushey Padak 2023’ to 19 eminent personalities and two organizations in recognition of their contributions to various fields. She handed over the 'Ekushey Padak', the country’s second highest civilian award, at a ceremony at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka. The Cultural Affairs Ministry organised the event on the occasion of International Mother Language Day. Among the award recipients, Khaleda Manzoor-e Khuda, freedom fighter AKM Shamsul Haque (posthumous), and Haji Mohammad Majibor Rahman received the award for their roles in the Language Movement. Masud Ali Khan and Shimul Yusuf received the prestigious award for their contributions in acting, while Manoranjan Ghoshal, Gazi Abdul Hakim and Fazal-e-Khuda (posthumous) for music, Jayanto Chattopadhyay for recitation, Nawazish Ali Khan for 'Shilpakala' (arts), and Kanak Chanpa Chakma for painting. Besides, Momtaz Uddin (posthumously) was given the award in the Liberation War category, Md Shah Alamgir (posthumously) in journalism, Dr Md Abdul Majid in research, Professor Dr Mazharul Islam (posthumously) in education, Saidul Haque in social service, Advocate Manjurul Islam (posthumously) and Akhter Uddin Mia (posthumously) in politics, and Dr Maniruzzaman in language and literature. Bangladesh National Museum received the award in the category of education and 'Bidyanondo Foundation' in social service. Each awardee received a gold medal, a replica of medal, a certificate of honour, and a cheque worth four lakh taka. State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid chaired the award giving ceremony, while Cabinet Secretary Md. Mahbub Hossain conducted it and read out the citations of the award recipients. Cultural Affairs Secretary Md. Abul Monsur delivered the welcome address. The 'Ekushey Padak' was introduced in the memory of the martyrs of the 1952 Language Movement.

Since Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a partial mobilization for his invasion of Ukraine in September, hundreds of thousands of men have fled to neighboring countries such as Georgia, Kazakhstan and Belarus. Many did not wait to be called up before leaving. There have also been protests against conscription across Russia, which have been heavily suppressed by the police. Irina Ivanova, who asked that her real name not be used for safety reasons, told DW that, despite the desperate situation, she hopes to salvage at least part of herself and her family.  DW: Can you tell us where your son is?  Irina Ivanova: My son is in Kazakhstan and is currently organizing his life for the foreseeable future. Perhaps he will also go to the consulates of other countries to apply for visas. Did he leave Russia because of the draft? No, we had anticipated the events because he could have been among the first to be conscripted. He is about 30, studying, and has served in the army already. At first, they said that students would not be mobilized but people from military committees and the police kept turning up at the university. So we decided overnight that he should leave. My son bought tickets and traveled to a city on the border with Kazakhstan. We knew that it would not be possible to cross the border legally. A friend of mine helped him and waited until he had passed all the controls and had gotten into a car on the other side. Hundreds of thousands of Russians have sought refuge in neighboring states. Why did the mobilization come as such a shock? People lived for seven months as if there were no war in Ukraine. That is not true. Everyone knows that there is a war in Ukraine. But everyone has their daily lives. Those who went to war in Ukraine were people with different reasons: ideological, financial or some kind of inner conviction. But now the authorities have made decisions over the heads of people and many do not agree. They are escaping so that they do not have to be part of all this. What is your opinion on the fact that some countries are closing their borders to Russian citizens? On the one hand, their concerns are understandable. On the other, I am disappointed that all Russians are being refused entry and not only those who are to blame for all this. People are being rejected more because of fear and because of a political boycott: Russia is the aggressor, and thus all Russians are aggressors. But people should be looked at individually — me, my son, my friends, my friends' sons. They are not aggressors and invaders. They are protesting in every possible way. This is the bane of all those who disagree with Russian policy. Many people abroad think that Russians should not run away from the problem but fight against it. I don't see a way for people themselves to bring an end to what is happening here. How can we do that? Men are escaping because they don't want to sully their hands with blood. Women, like me, have stayed. What can we do? Maybe we will be driven to a rebellion and there will be a women's uprising. There have been many examples in the past. There have only been major women's protests in Dagestan and Sakha. Why not in major cities such as Moscow? I talk about this all the time with friends and colleagues. Although we have different opinions, we agree on one thing: We are responsible for our children. I went to all the protests, vigils and demonstrations. But I always made sure not to come under the batons of the police because I have two other children, who are still minors. There are millions of people like me. If for some reason we are no longer here, the lives of our families and our children will also be destroyed. In small republics, such as Dagestan or Sakha, there is a strong sense of family and clan solidarity. Muscovites like me do not have anyone behind us. We don't want to live the way we have to live today, but we can't do anything about it. This is our greatest tragedy and misfortune. What reactions to the mobilization have you observed among your friends and overall in the country? Everyone in my circle of friends is horrified and rejects this war. I hate the state that has usurped my homeland. I have probably been repeating this phrase for 20 years already. But I also know that in the regions, in depressed towns, in villages, where information arrives in twisted form and only via the state TV and radio stations, there are very different views. It is a huge territory, and people are prepared to support all of this. Here, we feel we are the minority. What future do you see for your country? And for yourself? I do not see any future in today's Russia. We don't have a leader whom we could follow. They have all been removed. Nobody is trying to become a leader anymore. We don't have any means of influence anymore. We can only reject and resist everything. We can at least attempt to rescue part of our family and ourselves. Salma Begum, mother of slain Raihan, has alleged that efforts are going on to conceal the murder case against Sylhet Metropolitan Police Sub Inspector Akbar. She told Rtv news that at first police said it was an incident of mass beating. Due to the protest a police Constable named Titu Chandra Das was arrested and later taken for remand. Now to divert the case different rumors are being spread, she alleged. Salma Begum said, it is being heard that Akbar used to come at a place named Akhalia to take wine. There my son Raihan prohibited him to enter and from that incident enmity between Akbar and Raihan arose- this type of rumors are being spread. She claimed that her son had no enmity with SI Akbar and they were not known to each other. She said, lying and baseless information are being spread. To divert the incident of Raihan killing a vested quarter is spreading propaganda on social media. They should be brought under the law. Salma Begum said, my son had no enmity with others. My innocent son was beaten to death by SI Akbar and his associates and I want justice. Meanwhile, PBI Sylhet district Police Super Khaleduzzaman told Rtv news that they have heard about the allegation that Akbar used to go to Akhalia to take wine. All are under investigation. Those who are associated with Raihan killing and are spreading rumors will be brought under law. Drives are on to detain the main accused Akbar. AH
