Mahmudullah presents draw for Bangladesh on his birthday
Captain Mahmudullah presents a gift for Bangladesh team, a draw in the test match, on his birth day. The first test of the two match test series went on the fifth day. The two umpires Rod Tucker and Marais Erasmus decided to turn the match into a draw following consent from both the captains of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. In their second innings Bangladesh scored 307 runs with loss of 5 wickets in 100 overs. At the end of the match in Chittagong’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium the acting captain of Bangladesh team Mahmudullah was not out with 28 runs facing 65 balls. Born on this very day in Mymensingh in 1986, Mahmudullah completed his 32 years. After making his debut against Sri Lanka in Colombo in 2007 in one day international, he made his debut in the test match just two years after. Mahmudullah made his test debut more glorious than the one day international. In that test match against West Indies in Kingston he took 5 wickets and also played a vital role in batting for the win of Bangladesh. The right handed batsman has played 37 test matches so far. He scored 2 thousand 42 runs with an average of 30.17 and took 39 wickets. He hammered one century and 14 half centuries. His highest individual score is 115. On the last day of the test match Bangladesh batsman Mosaddek Hossain was not out on 8 runs of facing 53 balls while making a partnership with Mahmudullah.  Earlier tigers began their batting with a deficit of 119 runs from the Lankans innings. They took the lead with the huge partnership of 180 runs from Mominul and Liton Das. Mominul made a record of scoring two centuries in both the innings as a first Bangladeshi. He scored his career’s sixth century and was out on 105 runs. On the other hand Liton made his career’s third half century. The wicket keeper-batsman missed the century by playing a bad shot and was out on 96 runs after facing 182 balls.  On the fourth day, in the opening partnership Tamim and Imrul scored 52 runs. Tamim scored 41 and Imrul 19 runs. Mushfiqur was out on his 2 runs as the last batsman of the day. Sri Lanka’s Herath took two wickets in the second innings.
