Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the squad ahead of the New Zealand series. Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah Riyadh return to squad as the announcement came from the cricket board on Saturday, September 16. Soumya Sarkar and Nurul Hasan Sohan also returned to the squad. Shakib Al Hasan has been rested along with Mushfiqur Rahim, Mehedi Hasan Miraz, and the pace trio of Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, and Shoriful Islam as Liton Das will be the captain. To reach in the final Mahmudullah XI had to calculate a much. Tamim XI was the contender to reach the final by winning the last match as they were ahead in the run rate. But Tamim XI lost to Nazmul XI and made the way for Mahmudullah XI to reach in the final. On Sunday’s final Nazmul XI faced Mahmudullah XI. Earlier in the both league matches Mahmudullah XI lost to Nazmul XI. But in the final today Mahmudullah XI easily beat Nazmul XI. For Mahmudullah XI the difference was made by Liton Das’s 68-run innings with 10 boundaries. Besides, 53 by Imrul Kayes and captain Riyad’s 23 help Mahmudullah XI to pick the victory of 7 wickets after completing 29.3 overs. Earlier, winning the toss Mahmudullah invited Nazmul XI to bat first. But Soumya and Mushfique could not stand before the fierce bowling of Sumon Khan. Sumon began the havoc by sending Saif Hasan for 4. Then he fell down Mushfique in the trap of LBW for 12 runs. Soumya went to the dressing room scoring 5 runs. Captain Nazmul Shanto scored 32 runs before being the prey of Miraz. But in this terrible moment Irfan Sukkur wanted to turn back. Towhid Hridoy supported him to turn the innings long. Hridoy went back to the pavilion after scoring 26 of 53 balls and Irfan Sukkur scored 75 runs from 77 balls. Sumon grabbed 5 wickets after sending back Nayeem Hasan and Taskin. AH    

Like the test series Mahmudullah Riyad is going to be debuted in the T-20 series against Sri Lanka. In the last match of Tri-nation series Shakib got hurt in his finger and missed batting in the final. He missed the test series. Later Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced T-20 team keeping him captain as well. But at last test and T-20 captain Shakib was excluded from the team as he was not fully recovered from his injury. BCB confirmed the matter on Tuesday. The team leadership was given to Mahmudullah. Besides Nazmul Islam Apu has replaced Shakib in the coming series scheduled to be started from February 15. Apu was rewarded for his performance in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). He performed a great role for Rangpur Riders for the championship. He got 12 wickets in 10 matches. Average was 16.33. BCB declared the T-20 team giving priority the performers of BPL. Earlier 5 uncapped players were named for Bangladesh team. With Apu the number reached at 6. That means at least two players are going to be debuted in the series against Sri Lanka. Captain Mahmudullah presents a gift for Bangladesh team, a draw in the test match, on his birth day. The first test of the two match test series went on the fifth day. The two umpires Rod Tucker and Marais Erasmus decided to turn the match into a draw following consent from both the captains of Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. In their second innings Bangladesh scored 307 runs with loss of 5 wickets in 100 overs. At the end of the match in Chittagong’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium the acting captain of Bangladesh team Mahmudullah was not out with 28 runs facing 65 balls. Born on this very day in Mymensingh in 1986, Mahmudullah completed his 32 years. After making his debut against Sri Lanka in Colombo in 2007 in one day international, he made his debut in the test match just two years after. Mahmudullah made his test debut more glorious than the one day international. In that test match against West Indies in Kingston he took 5 wickets and also played a vital role in batting for the win of Bangladesh. The right handed batsman has played 37 test matches so far. He scored 2 thousand 42 runs with an average of 30.17 and took 39 wickets. He hammered one century and 14 half centuries. His highest individual score is 115. On the last day of the test match Bangladesh batsman Mosaddek Hossain was not out on 8 runs of facing 53 balls while making a partnership with Mahmudullah.  Earlier tigers began their batting with a deficit of 119 runs from the Lankans innings. They took the lead with the huge partnership of 180 runs from Mominul and Liton Das. Mominul made a record of scoring two centuries in both the innings as a first Bangladeshi. He scored his career’s sixth century and was out on 105 runs. On the other hand Liton made his career’s third half century. The wicket keeper-batsman missed the century by playing a bad shot and was out on 96 runs after facing 182 balls.  On the fourth day, in the opening partnership Tamim and Imrul scored 52 runs. Tamim scored 41 and Imrul 19 runs. Mushfiqur was out on his 2 runs as the last batsman of the day. Sri Lanka’s Herath took two wickets in the second innings.
