Election atmosphere has to be made fair using sense and merit: CEC
‘In the eleventh national parliament election political pressure has to be faced by fair apply of law by not indulging anger and by staying above of any kind of discrimination. Election atmosphere has to be maintained fair by using sense and merit. Not panic, the commission wants a reliable environment. The Election Commission is bound to the people for delivering a fair and neutral election.’ Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) KM Nurul Huda said these at a directional workshop of Judicial Magistrates at the Nirbachan Bhaban at Arargaon in the capital on Monday. In the three days long workshop 215 Judicial Magistrates took part in the first phase briefing. The commission will brief total 640 Judicial Magistrates in three phases. The Magistrates will be deployed in election field on the day before election, on the election day and the day after election. CEC KM Nurul Huda said, you have to perform your duties based on the constitution and law. So, on the basis of the constitutional responsibility and liberty the electoral activities in fact have begun from today. The rest is your responsibilities on field. You are independent, you are neutral, you are the judge and you have to apply the mind of a judge. He said to the Judicial Magistrates, how you will hold the election in fair way, that you have to consider with your merit and wisdom. The commission is responsible to the constitution, nation, political parties and voters for holding a fair election. To attain confidence you have to perform your duties neutrally. In the briefing Election Commissioners Md. Rafiqul Islam, Begum Kabita Khanam, Brigadier General Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury (retd.) and Election Commission Secretary Helal Uddin Ahmed were also present. AH
