Two madrasa students vandalized sculpture of Bangabandhu
At 2:16 am two madrasa students came near the sculpture of Bangabandhu by foot wearing paijama and Panjabi. Then they stepped up with help of a ladder on the sculpture of Bangabandhu at the panch rasta intersection in Kushtia town. They first hit the pointer finger of Bangabandhu's sculpture with hammer that they brought in a back pack. After that they vandalized the hand of the sculpture then the face of it. Nearly about nine minutes they stepped down with the ladder and left the place by walking. Police have arrested four persons including those two madrasa students. The information was delivered by Khulna range DIG Dr. Mohid Uddin at a press briefing over the incident of vandalizing Bangabandhu’s sculpture. The press briefing was arranged at Kushtia police line conference room on Sunday. He said, after analyzing the CCTV footage they interrogated two madrasa students. They recognized the two students who vandalized the sculpture. Based on their information after night long drive police arrested Sabuz Islam Nahid (20) from Philipnagar Golabari village under Daulatpur bordering India and Abu Bakkar Mithuun (19) from Shingpur of Mirpur upazila. They are the students of hefz department of Ibne Masud Madrasa at Jugia Paschimpara in Kushtia town. After interrogation it was known that two teachers of the madrasa inspired them to vandalize the sculpture and also helped them to flee. Police then arrested those two teachers named Al Amin (27) and Yusuf Ali (26). The DIG said, nobody will be spared. We are saddened like the whole nation. Investigation will go on to find out whether there is linkage with others. We have got some information. AH

MPO of accused madrasa principal suspended
The madrasa education directorate has suspended the Monthly Payment Order (MPO) of Sonagazi Islamia Fazil Madrasa principal and one of its teachers who were arrested in connection with cases of sexually assaulting and killing Nusrat Jahan Rafi. The information came through an order signed by Director General of madrasa education directorate Safiuddin Ahmed on Thursday. The order was published on website of the directorate. It was said in the order, request is made to take necessary actions for suspending MPO of Sonagazi Islamia Fazil Madrasa principal Maulana Siraj Ud Doula and its English department lecturer Afsar Uddin who were arrested in connection with dishonoring madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi (case number-24, Date-27/03/2019) and along with the case of killing her by burnt (case number-10, Date-08/04/2019). Mentionable, Nusrat Jahan Rafi went to Sonagazi Islamia Senior Madrasa on April 6 to take part in the Alim examination. At that time the miscreants using tricks took her to the madrasa roof, poured kerosene on her body and set fire on her. After fighting five days for her life Nusrat succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday (April 10) at Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Earlier, on March 27 the madrasa principal called Nusrat at his office room and dishonored her. After the incident Nusrat's mother Shirin Akter filed a case with Sonagazi model police station. Police arrested principal Siraj Ud Doula on that day. People loyal to the principal were forcing Nusrat to withdraw the case. At one stage the miscreants on April 6 took Nusrat to the madrasa roof and set fire on her body. AH

PM’s order to shift burnt madrasa student in Singapore
Nushrat Jahan Rafi, an Alim examinee from Feni is undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in critical condition. Steps are being taken to shift her to Singapore for better treatment following Prime Minister’s order. In the mean time Nushrat’s medical documents were sent to Singapore. The information came through Coordinator of Sheikh Hasina Burn and Plastic Surgery Institute Dr. Samanta Lal Sen. He said these to the newsmen when Prime Minister’s Assistant Secretary Barrister Biplab Barua went to the DMCH Burn Unit to visit the madrasa female student on Monday afternoon. Dr. Samanta Lal Sen said, no reply has yet to come from Singapore over Nushrat. All necessary measures will be taken as soon as the direction comes. He said, her condition is not well. 80 percent of her body was burnt. After admission Nushrat was moved to ICU and at present she is under life support. Relatives of the girl alleged that principal of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa through his followers attempted to kill Nushrat by burning as she declined to withdraw the case of sexual harassment filed against principal Siraj Ud Doula. Nushrat’s brother told the newsmen, on March 27 principal of the madrasa Siraj Ud Doula called her sister in his room and dishonored her. As she later informed the matter to the family members her mother lodged a case with Sonagazi police station. He also alleged that followers of the principal were threatening them to withdraw the case as police detained Siraj Ud Doula. AH

Attempt to kill madrasa female student by setting on fire
An attempt was made to kill an Alim examinee by setting on fire at Sonagazi upazila in Feni district. Allegation came in that classmates of the student attempted to kill the student as she lodged complain of sexual harassment against the principal. The incident took place on the roof of Sonagazi Islamia Senior Fazil Madrasa center just before beginning of the examination on Saturday morning. Noman, elder brother of the student told Rtv online, my sister went to the madrasa center in the morning to take part in the Alim examination. At around 9:30 am some loyal students of the principal took my sister on the roof of the madrasa, set fire on her and fled away. Later students, other teachers and locals rescued her and brought her to Sonagazi health complex at first and later to Feni sadar hospital. There the on duty physician referred her to the Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment. Resident Medical Officer of Sonagazi health complex Dr. Nurul Alam said, as condition of the female student was critical so she was sent to district sadar hospital for better treatment. Resident Medical Officer of Feni sadar hospital Dr. Abu Taher said, 70 to 80 percent of the female student's body was burnt. After primary treatment she was sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Officer in Charge of Sonagazi model police station said that he heard about the incident. Earlier mother of the female student lodged a case. Action will be taken after investigation in this regard. Earlier on March 27 police detained principal Maulana Siraj Uddoula over allegation of sexual harassment to the female student by calling her at his office room at the madrasa. After the incident a group of students staged demonstration and formed human chain demanding release of the principal. On the other hand another group of students formed human chain demanding punishment for the principal. In this connection mother of the female student Shirin Akter filed a case with Sonagazi model police station. AH
