Md Shahabuddin to take oath as president on Monday
On Monday, April 24, Md Shahabuddin will take oath as the 22nd President of Bangladesh. The swearing-in ceremony will be held at Bangabhaban's historic Durbar Hall at around 11 am in the morning.  National Parliament Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will administer the oath function.Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, cabinet members and hundreds of distinguished guests will attend the event.  The program will be conducted by Cabinet Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain. Then the new president Md Shahabuddin will sign the oath documents. Md Shahabuddin's wife Dr Rebecca Sultana and son Arshad Adnan Rony and other family members will also attend the swearing-in ceremony. Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique, Members of Parliament, Chief Election Commissioner, Supreme Court Judges, political leaders, heads of the three armed forces, diplomats, senior journalists, civil and military officials will be present on the occasion. The 73-year-old Md Shahabuddin was elected as the 22nd President of Bangladesh on 13 February 2023.  Md Shahabuddin was born on 10 December 1949 in Pabna. Father Sharfuddin Ansari and mother Khairunnessa. During his student life, Mr. Shahabuddin served as an active member and president of Pabna District Chhatra League. He actively participated in the Great Liberation War of 1971 and then joined the BCS (Judicial) cadre in 1982.  After 25 years of service as a Judge, he retired as a District and Sessions Judge in 2006. From 2011-2016, Md Shahabuddin served as Commissioner of Anti-Corruption Commission.
