Prices of diesel, kerosene cut by Tk 2.25 per litre
The government has reduced the price of diesel and kerosene by Tk 2.25 per liter in line wwith the automated price formula. According to the new price, diesel and kerosene will be sold at Tk 106 per liter. The new prices will be effective from April 1. However, the prices of octane and petrol are the same as before. Accordingly, octane will be sold at Tk 126 per liter and petrol at Tk 122 per liter. The Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources issued a gazette notification in this regard on Sunday (March 31). The price has been fixed in the light of the automatic pricing guidelines of petroleum fuel across the country. Earlier, On February 29, the government issued a gazette notification over “Fuel Pricing Guidelines”. Later, on March 7, the notification of adjusting the price of fuel oil was published according to the first pricing formula.

Price of diesel, kerosene refixed
The government has refixed the prices of diesel and kerosene as the price of fuel is rising in the international market.    Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) is losing around Tk 20 crore per day as it sells diesel at Tk. 13.01 per litre and furnace oil at Tk. 6.21 per litre which are much less compared to the international market, said a press release.   Apart from Bangladesh, many countries including the neighboring India, are regularly refixing the fuel price to adjust with the global market, added the release.    On November 1, 2021, the market price of diesel in India was Tk. 124.41 or Rs 101.56 per liter, while in Bangladesh, the price of diesel was Tk. 65 per  liter, which is Tk. 59.41 less, the notification added.   In October 2021, the BPC incurred loss of Tk 726.71 crore as it supplied various grades of petroleum products at current prices.    Considering the overall situation, the government has refixed Tk. 80 per litre for diesel and kerosene at Tk. 65 per litre.     The last time price of petroleum products was refixed by reducing price through a gazette notification on 24 April 2016.  Source: BSS AH
